Oh wow, I can't believe they still make them with cane blades, and also in more modern finishes too. Pretty good selection. I'm surprised also that they have a 153mm x 10mm. I mean, that's small but it always looked even smaller than that to me. The only place here that really sold Encon was Scotty's Hardware. ACE sells Westinghouse but they never had a display in their new store they moved to in 2005, and last time I went they mostly only had Hunters on the shelves.

I can't believe they still have cane offerings either, I haven't seen anything with cane sold in the US in at least 15 years now. I take it those are 220v models?

When I said to other collectors they were still a few cane bladed fans sold in Canada and western Europe in the mid to late 2000's they were very suprised of that so probably more than 15 years in the US. It's funny how in the US cane seems to be have been very shorted lived and acsioated a lot with the 1980's while in many other places it was probably equally popular in the 1980's and 1990's. In many places the gold age of cane was in the mid 1980's to mid 1990's. In the 1970's and early 1980's a lot of fans had metal blades.

I think there were still Hampton Bay Landmark GE vents with cane as late as the mid 90s.
I wish they still sold those Encon spinners in the US. I had a look on eBay and the only ones were in Germany and it would cost hundreds to buy it and have it shipped over. If I ever find a 30" Princess I'd get it. I've seen a few of the four bladed larger one at Habitat Restore before.

I do believe there were still some cane fans and woodgrain appliances in the 90s, but they were definitely on their way out. I'd get one of the Princesses if I saw one too.

Where are the sightings of may and June? Because of the lack of interest for sightings and with the pandemic I don't post sightings every month. Here are the ones for June. All taken in Montréal. A restaurant have multiples of these glossy black Nadair Mini Designer on long poles from the late 1990's. An early 2010's Westinghouse Splendor 120 cm in a hairdresser. They are colored lights in there that creates this pinkish glow on the fan. It's brushed nickel with silver blades. This is my favorite post 2000's Westinghouse model. An early to mid 1980's Golden Fan 140 cm or possibly New Fan in a flower shop. It was on medium speed. It has three metal curved blades. I wrote Golden Fan but it might be a New Fan. I could not see it from close and being on it's hard to see the details that sets them apart. The brackets and rivet placement on the blades are usually different between the two brands. The shape of the motor is also very slightly different too. Enjoy!

Happy birthday Jean! Hope you’ll get a good day
Anyways, I like the glossy black finish on the Nadairs Thanks. Almost no one seem to care about the birthday list anymore at the bottom of the forum. This photos was taken at dusk thought a window which is why they appear bluish.

Here are the sightings from last July: Three unknown spinning very slowely in a restaurant in Old Montréal. Anyone know what they are? I'm thinking Quorum but they also remind me of something Kendal would have had. The switch housing is exactly like on a Quorum Venture down to the horizontal reverse switch. They are probably from the mid to late 2000's. A gift shop in Old Montréal has some Canarm CP36 90 cm on a copper ceiling. A Subway restaurant renovated in the 2010's still has it's original fans. Five mid 1990's polished brass Canarm GE vent 107 cm with five oak and cane blades. I like how they kept the older ceiling fans in a lot of their restaurants when they renovated them a few years ago. A former Bureau en Gros originally opened in the 1990's turned into a Hart department store has many of these Banvil Bronze Lines with the well curved blades. At the end of the month I went to visit Philippe Aubry. Some of you might remember this brown 1984 4 Saisons Galaxy 90 cm I got in May 2010 and gave to Philippe for his birthday. I finally saw this fan installed again after 10 years. I was able to make a demonstration video of it. It's runs very well and is super powerful! Here are the other fans installed in his apt: A polished brass SMC Promo Deluxe 90 cm from 1991. A brown Banvil Gold Line 90 cm from 1979. Enjoy!

The first one taken with flash: Without flash: The second one (without flash): A store has some Banvil Bronze Lines: A clothing store has two 2010's Westinghouse Industrials in brushed nickel with the blades installed upside down: Enjoy!

Here are the last sightings for 2020. Taken last October at Home Depot. Two new models that I found pretty cool and original. Both of them are indoor/outdoor. Hunter Gunnar 137 cm with 3-speed pull chain Eurofase 132 cm, DC motor with a 6-speed remote control. It's available in other finishes too. Eurofase recently started offering fans! That's their first model. Enjoy! Happy new year!

I finally found out what these fans are that I photographed and took a short video of last summer. They are indeed Kendal just as I expected. Here's one new in box for sale on Kijiji. The finish is antique copper. They might be a little bit older than I thought. I don't think Kendal were still using this box design in the mid to late 2000's. This must be a late 1990's to early 2000's model. www.kijiji.ca/v-indoor-lighting-fan/edmonton/52-copper-ceiling-fan/1553262429
