There's Winn-Dixie stores here. Another chain that started in the early 1900's in Florida. Oh I forgot, They use to have these (Link at bottom) in the deli of one of the Winn-Dixie stores. One was missing a blade, In the early 2000's they were taken out. I don't think any Winn-Dixies stores have fans anymore. www.vintageceilingfans.com/classicconceptsindustrialmodelc-101.html

Yeah I remember Adam when you got this fan you said something like that about it. They looks so much like the Canarm Industrial 36''. The difference is that the canarm have a lower canopy, the blades are not one piece of metal they have separated brackets and use a variable speed control.

Yes, I was told they look like the newer fans like the HRC industrials in some Wal-Mart stores. I remember seeing these around (Classic Concepts) since the mid 1980s. Even though this not a one of a kind ceiling fan. I finally found one to add to this site. I don't think many people have seen these....

That Classic Concepts looks similar to a lot of fans, but I had never seen that specific version before.

I finally got a response from publix, not much info, but heres what they replied with.. Thank you for inquiring about the classic 1960-1970's era lighting and HVAC diffusers. It is an extreme pleasure to see a member of the public share the enthusiasm that many in the Publix family has come to hold dear - the history of Publix. However, we are unable to fulfill your request due to the fact the store you noted was one of the last of that vintage and Publix does not maintain any replacement/spare stock. As far as the light fixtures, the model number on the original construction plans (dated 1967) was a Southern Mfr. #ALN-296 VHO. I know that Publix used to buy many of it's strip fluorescents from Southern Mfr. as well as other lighting vendors. Southern Mfr was a company out of Orlando. My industry contacts said that Southern Mfr. doesn't mfr. fixtures anymore. Publix bought an equal fixture to the Southern Mfr. unit from U.S. Fluorescent Mfr., which does not appear to be in business anymore. You can check out a search for U.S. Fluorescent Mfr. on www.sunbiz.org, clicking on Document Search - Corporations, Trademarks, Limited Partnerships & Limited Liabilities Corporations and search for the Company. Also, the HVAC plans note the diffusers as a model Connor "Kno Draft" concentric diffuser #KDA-16. Not sure if Connor is still around, however we don't have any of that stock either. Sorry that we could not be of anymore help. Thank you for the inquiry, Electrical Engineering Mgr. Publix Super Markets, Inc.

Wow, that was nice of them to look that up for you! I knew those lights were Southern something.

That was an excellent response from them, much better than you'd expect. I wonder if you can find anything following up on those links.

I know this has nothing to do with the fixtures but the publix next to my work still has the old white and green terazzo flooring that was in the other vintage publix that was demolished, their light fixtures are the new kinds though the floor is like in this store

I've seen a Publix store that looks like that one, I think there is one still in my area like that, with the middle upper ceiling, and those type of light fixtures, I beleive the floors are terazzo as well, those stores look to be built in the early-mid 1980s. i wonder what they are doing with this one?
The one that was demolished at the end of last year, there is something already up, and looks to be done. I think it's now a few store spaces.. It now looks like the old Publix was never there, as they reconnected the old plaza with the new spaces. I noticed they updated the plaza, before the publix was torn down.

The Publix in Lake Placid, FL looks very similar to the one that Mike K. posted. It has the egg crate style lighting, but it has square vents instead of the round ones. They may have originally had the round vents though. Otherwise it looks the same. It was built in 1984, as far as I know.

You ever notice that wherever there was an old publix, there would be an eckerd drugstore right next to it? i wonder if publix and eckerd ever had some kind of deal together at the time back then.
