Does anyone still have a landline telephone? Post it here! I have quite a few myself, another thing my house is flooded with way too many of. Here's some of mine, I don't know if there's anyone else on here that likes phones so I'm not going to bother posting any information about each one, but if you want the model numbers or more pictures of any just let me know. This telephone is a Western Electric. The history behind it is what makes it interesting. My grandfather worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for the past 30+ years, at some point they upgraded their telephone system, and my grandfather managed to take home the telephone that he had on his desk at work. He then used it at his house by his computer. I always liked this telephone. Years later, I don't remember how, but I ended up with it and now I use it in my house. Aside from where it came from, its a pretty typical telephone from this time period. The house I went to vacation at this summer had a newer version of the waterproof telephone put out by Uniden. I had taken a picture of it, but it seems to have disappeared, so a stock image off the Internet will have to suffice. www.amazon.com/Uniden-Cordless-Submersible-Waterproof-WXI3077/dp/B003H3PABQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406599793&sr=8-1&keywords=uniden+waterproof+telephone

We have what was originally a 5-handset Vtech 6.0 DECT set from 2010, but we've lost some of the handsets to it (I still have one in my bedroom, we still have one in the kitchen, and my sister still has one in her bedroom, but the one in our den doesn't work anymore and we lost the one in my parent's bedroom). The batteries don't last long at all so I'll be getting another one in my room (I'd like an old push-button desk set with mechanical bell ringer, since I don't use the phone much in my bedroom, but I need to be able to turn off the ringer at night. My parents have a cheap black Uniden corded slimline set they got recently since they need a phone in their bedroom, and the guy at Sears suggested they don't get another cordless set due to interference (the guy obviously didn't know what he was talking about, lol). I swear they only spent $10 on it, lol. We have a GE slimline that is about 14 years old (as old as our house) in our garage that never gets used in our garage.

I have a land-line phone.. It's cheap.. Not worth a picture.. But periodically I do run across some old phones.. When I do, I pick them up.. Most anywhere from $1 to $5.. Like these 1950s, to early 70s Western Electric phones.. from 1974 I picked this one up at Faith Farm the other day when I got my last fan score.. They included the phone for $1 more, even though it's marked $2 I see those oldies on eBay for around $40 - $60.. I guess there is a market for old phones...

I swear they only spent $10 on it, lol. We have a GE slimline that is about 14 years old (as old as our house) in our garage that never gets used in our garage. If you want to rejuvenate your Vtech set, you can probably buy a new handset to replace the missing one, and new batteries are typically only a few dollars. If you want to post the model number I'll get you some links as to what you would need to buy. Consider yourself lucky if you got 4 years out of your batteries, usually they only last 1 or 2 depending on how you charge the phones. Vtech makes a decent phone, but some of their models don't seem to last as long as they should. Uniden is a very good make, while their products are sometimes cheaper in cost, they'll probably last forever. You can get telephone wires, at least you used to be able to, which have a ringer switch. If you turn it off, it will filter out the surge in the line making the telephone ring. Other than that, I don't believe any of those older telephones have ringer off functionality. I'm not even sure if that telephone wire I described would work with something like that, it was intended for cordless phones. I have one of those wires, I'll have to try it out sometime. It does work on my 1990 DuoFone cordless. I have several DECT sets, I can sit the bases right next to each other and there are no problems, yet another person that doesn't know how to do his job properly... The garage is probably the only room I don't have a phone in, never in there anyway so it would be a waste, just like at your house lol

Ever use any of them? There's nothing like the ringers on those units. There is a decent market for them out there, but as you probably noticed they sell for anywhere from a dollar to who knows how much. It depends on the model, some are more common than others. If you find the right buyer, as with pretty much anything, you can sell one for pretty high.

I love the avocado green W.E. 2500 set, Adam! I pass up the 2500 sets at Goodwill for fans, but when I see one, I'll grab it for myself. I have a few rotary W.E. 500 sets.
As for other antique phones I have, I somewhere have the phone my dad had in his bedroom when he was a kid, the Western Electric Trimline with square pushbuttons... it was white, and he still remembers it (my dad does).

as for me,i disconnect my landline,i only use my cell A lot of people seem to be doing this now. Personally, I much prefer the landline over the cellphone for many reasons. I suppose if you don't talk on the phone much, you probably end up saving a decent amount of money by not having both.

Thanks Jordan and Jeremy.. I just have them stored for now.. I may use one when we get another hurricane that knocks out the power.. I have all but two of my phones active on my line, the only reason the last 2 aren't operating is because they need to be repaired. I have my rotary phone on the line, and I am still able to dial from it. I also have a candlestick telephone which is rotary dial. I can't remember why, but I ended up giving it to my grandmother to use at her house. I really cannot think of why she wanted it, but now I want it back lol. I'm not sure exaclty how old it is, I think it was a replica built around the 70s. It has a horrible "ringtone" if you will to it. Its a mechanical ringiner, but instead of hitting a bell it just hits a piece of plastic or metal and makes an awful sound.

We have that exact same Vtech fifth picture down, with two additional handsets and corresponding charging stations.
In my bedroom is a Bell phone that's the basic style of your Western Electric one and my parents have something or other from the late 90s I think in their bedroom, those and the Vtech system are all we have in use.

Cool! Mine originally came with 3 handsets, but one failed about 2 years ago so I'm down to two. Do any of your handsets have bad displays? All of mine have had dead pixels for years now.
