Before they renovated, my local Wal-Mart had dropped ceilings. The only ceiling fan was a white Canarm 56'' Industrial over the photo center that was always on high. There was one odd thing, its that there was one of those 30'' black steel high velocity Commercial pedestal fan that was handing up side down from the ceiling! It was on most of the time. In that Wal-Mart they used also a lot of portables fans on the cash.
In 2004 they renovated it and after it had non dropped ceiling. Those steel exposed ceilings.

I think I've been there, how many Walmarts are there in Montreal? It was one close to my great aunt's house.

None of them here have any fans that are not ceiling fans.

Dan you have never seen any portables fans on some counter tops or at the cashes at any Wal-Mart?
Ben this Wal-Mart is located in the West Island of Montréal in Kirkland on St-Charles Boulvard. But I have no idea how many exactly there is but many.

My area just recently started getting Wal-Marts, they were always few and far between. The two new ones in my area just have Regencys in the Subway area, and usually a Canarm over the photo lab. The two older Wal-Marts still have some other fans. One had two rows of Northwinds over the registers, and a 36" HRS over the photo lab, and the typical Laskos at the snack stand/resturant. They did a minor remodel, and replaced all of the Northwinds with one row of HRS 36 inchers and removed the Lasko's. They recently did a second minor remodel, and removed all the 36" HRS models, including photo lab, with 56" generic looking industrial fans. Very loudy looking, but the 36" HRS fans looked ridiculous since they were so undersized. And depsite being over cash registers, they still managed to be severely beat up in a very short time with badly bent blades, etc.
The other older Wal-Mart also had Northwinds over the registers in two rows. One of five fans, the other of six. They also had two Hunter Sea-Airs in a hair salon, and builder-huggers in the snack stand area. Recently they turned the store into a Super Wal-Mart and removed all of the fans throughout, sadly.
I can see why fans are removed that are rarely or never used. It is still beyond me why stores would remove fans that were CONSTANTLY in use. I don't get it.
I just remembered in recent travels a Super Wal-Mart I was in further west had two SMC, 42" park avenues in the snack area. Amusing thing was they were literally mounted 25+ feet in the air on 3" rods. And running in reverse. Not the most effective installation I would assume. lol.
And I saw another Super store a few years ago that had one very ornate, 6-blade Litex over every produce bin. Maybe about 8 in all. Very odd looking application for that type of fan. It's the same six blade ornate Litex still sold at Lowes, minus the light kit.

Dan, I'm not sure what those industrials are. They are kind of silly looking, and they have a rounded looking switch housing and are steel gray in color. They use a spinner motor like a regular spinner ceiling fan would use. They remind me of Westinghouse, but I have no idea.
My Walmart I think has clip-on fans at the registers and it may have those O2 Cool battery powered two-speed fans as well. Oh, there's also a gray Duracraft turbofan at the photography desk at the front, where you can have pictures made. At the paint counter, they have a Lasko blower fan, one of those little plastic ones.
