I decided last week to stop drinking soda. I don't really know why but I had been thinking about doing so and I just decided I might as well stop. I was drinking way too much of the stuff. Sometimes I wouldn't have any during the week and would just drink it on the weekends but even then I could go through a 2 liter pretty fast.
I've been drinking water/water with flavor, and milk instead, and I haven't really missed it. I'm surprised I haven't gotten headaches since in the past when I wouldn't have it for a few days, I'd get them.
I did have a Coke on Friday because I picked up McDonald's but that's all I've had in 9 days now.
Also I only eat fast food once a week or twice a week at the most these days. Whereas at one time I ate it multiple times a week.
Haven't been to the gym in over a week though, I pulled a tendon or something in my foot and it has really hurt if I walk on it much, so I haven't felt like working out. I did go for a walk tonight and noticed it doesn't hurt much at all now compared to last weekend, so hopefully it's about healed up.

My dad taught me to drive in my mother's Dodge Grand Caravan. LOL We went out on some road's near my parents' house that are paved but not many houses out there. So it was a good place to learn without much traffic. It was scary at first. I remember the first time an oncoming car was coming and it freaked me out! I picked up pretty quickly. I had moved the cars around in the driveway before since I was a kid so I knew how to operate a car just not on the road of course.
Later that summer I took driver's ed. I remember my first time going out on the highway with the instructor, we were in an 06 Impala and I was scared to death, worried I would swerve out of the lane.
I remember the driving test very well, and the cones set up behind the cafeteria at school. I passed with an 83 because when I did the backing up part, I looked forward before the car was completely stopped, so I lost that many points for that infraction.
I don't know how to drive a manual unfortunately. My dad used to have a manual Nissan truck and I would shift the gears when he'd drive once in a while and he'd tell me which gear to use when, but I was too young to actually drive then.

What I don't get you see all these YouTube videos on there with these clickbait thumbnails about how the real estate market is "over" and a "crash is coming". But when you watch the video they act like it's going to be a great time to buy because sellers are reducing prices because they aren't selling. But these drops they're talking about are only a few percent. It's hardly any crash of the market. Plus we don't know what the economy is going to do.
I think likely it will be decades before it's ever affordable to buy. You look a the late 70s and early 80s, there was a big recession and yet the prices kept going up.
I think that's what we're going to be seeing with this is the interest rates go up and then the prices just keep climbing slowly. I've just given up. I refuse to buy a house now after working and saving for a decade and having to put a big down payment when I could've bought basically the same house for $50,000 a decade ago. It's just stupid, and I can't imagine people think they are getting a deal, when they're acting like a few thousand off the price is a deal.

Does anyone here go to a gym? I go to Planet Fitness. I used to go to Gold's Gym for several years but unfortunately they closed down summer of 2019. I was really unhappy about that. Then Planet Fitness opened in early 2020, and I started going then, but then Crovid got started and I didn't go the rest of the year . After I got it I started going again early 2021. I used to go to Gold's Gym about 3-4 times a week back when it was open, but it seems I only make it about twice a week now, but I've been getting better about it lately. I try to do legs once a week minimum and everything else twice a week, but I should be going more often. I wish Gold's never closed because the facilities were better, you had an indoor pool, racketball court, two cardio rooms that played movies, smoothie bar, etc. Planet Fitness doesn't have any of that stuff, but I think for the price you can't beat it. With Gold's I think I was paying $35 a month, with PF it's only $10 which I think is a pretty good value. It's actually a lot better than I was expecting it to be, since a lot of PF's I heard don't have much with free weights and racks, but this one at least does. I wish PF would've taken over Gold's Gym because the facilities were so nice and it was only about 10 years old. Instead it all got wasted to become a Burlington. It's good we got a PF at least since the only other gyms here are just tiny ones for the most part. There is another gym here that's relatively good size that expanded to try to fill in the gap from Gold's going, but it's almost $50 a month. I wish it was cheaper because that one is right down the street from my work and much closer to my house. But oh well. I dont go to the gym. I just sit at home all day being lazy but I’m surprised I Am not overweight, I’m around 115LBS and I’m 15 years old When I was that age up through my early 20s I could eat a lot and gain nothing, I weighed around that much at the time. I could eat desserts, etc and no effect. Metabolism is high in those ages, which is good! Ate way too much fast food in college and still only about 120 pounds. I couldn't do that now probably.

I need to lose some weight. I eat horrible and stress eat too. I do a lot of yard work so that does help offset it but I’ve let my body go for too long. I like my job but sitting all day is horrible I have a standing desk but that doesn’t exactly help with the cardio lol. I do not belong to a gym unfortunately it’s gonna be a half hour ride to and from to go to any gym where I live and if I did join one itd be not near my work as that’s in the other direction and 40 minutes from my house. I’d love to join somewhere that has an indoor pool for the winter however there is one ymca but again 20 minute ride to and from and I just can’t justify that ride especially with gas especially when I can go for a walk or do something in that time locally bike ride etc. I miss my bike, I used to have one and liked to ride, even though it was a rusty piece of crap. LOL That would be a long trip just to go to the gym! It's an 11 mile trip to mine which is kind of annoying. I sit at my job most of the day too which isn't so good, so I try to be active outside of work.

I went back to same thrift store today (on vacation today) and saw two ceiling fans.
One was a white/PB bottom mount spinner with white stencil blades (maybe Encon).
The other was a 5 blade white GE vent. It had half moon arms and a pretty big white spinner motor inside so my guess it was a Gulf Coast Dixie Belle.
They were $10 each. I might get that Dixie Belle, since I hear they are really good fans, not sure though. I have too many white fans already!

I agree 100% with you. I hate clutter the one thing that amazes me is when you buy a house how much stuff you do accumulate to keep the household running compared to when I rented or lived with my parents (granted they had all the random stuff lol). There definitely is a point. I feel like everyone hits a point and unloads fans. But what you’re doing saving stuff to actually use isn’t. I was the same way. In fact I stored furniture in my grandmothers house when she moved out and I was renting the guest house and when I went from an 800 sq ft guest house to a 2000 sq ft house there wasn’t much furniture I needed lol. That’s what happened with me getting this shed. I have a two car garage well in theory but anyway I have extra stuff that stresses me out plus we plan eventually to convert it into a family room so it will be one day eliminated. Sure the car can go outside or buy a carport but I need to move my workbench and tools that's where this shed comes in. I’m trying to move thay all out plus I need a place to tinker! That’s usually how it goes!! At least they did some planning when they built that. Great feature! I agree, I think if one has a basement or separate area to display stuff it might help. I've just lost interest in acquiring more stuff, you always have a lot more than you realize. I've gotten to where if it's not something I think I'll legitimately use, then I won't buy it. It's nice to look at and admire things, but I don't necessarily need to own it and trip over it to enjoy something. Also a lot of people I notice will buy brand new stuff so as not to use their "good vintage". I don't get that since using it is not going to ruin it and if it's just going to sit there collecting dust then what's the point. LOL Don't get me wrong I do like to find something that needs some cleaning up and servicing. The hunt for stuff is fun and making it look new again is too, but after that I don't really know what to do with it other than it just sits collecting dust.

What kind of AC unit do you have at your house?
Are there any old AC units either central or window units in your area that are older?
My house has an ICP system and it's about 8 years old.
I used to see the older central units in my area but I don't see many anymore.
I know some people collect old window AC units but I couldn't imagine doing that, since they take up so much space. I think they are neat to look at for the styling and how different the quality was back then but they're not something I'd want to own. It's kind of amazing to me that they had AC in the 40s and 50s since most people couldn't really afford it back then, even in the 60s I don't think many people had AC.

I will try to look into it further. Probably won't be right away. I'm thinking maybe put up one of those Emerson Apollos for now. Not sure yet. Have you ever had a flywheel break on a fan? Just wondering if the blades fall off or it just drops below the motor shaft.
The bearings on this one has always had the whirring sound, but it's more noticeable at night when it's dead quiet. I'm not good at servicing them as I've never tried taking a CF motor apart.

Does anyone know what motor sizes Lasko used in their ceiling fans? I have a Decor America 52" and it's a skeletal motor and looks kind of small to me, I would guess 153mm. It's hard to see exactly though. I've tried to remove the motor housing to get a better look but I can't figure out how to get the housing plates detached from the sideband.
The older ones, like the Turn of the Century they made for Sears, I've seen videos of and they have regular spinner motors and they look pretty big to me. I'd say at least 172mm, maybe even 188mm.

I was running my Fasco Great Room on medium this evening and I was on the computer. I started hearing this strange groaning sound and it seemed to be coming from the fan. So I felt the switch housing and there seemed to be a bit of vibration coming from it. So I turned it off waited a few minutes and turned it on low. After a few seconds I started hearing the sound again. It doesn't do it constantly but there is a sort of ruhh ruhh sound.
Could it be the flywheel or the motor bearings? It has the original flywheel but it feels fine to me and flexible.
Hopefully it's not the motor. I may change it out for something else in the mean time. It needs a bearing service because the bearings have always been raspy, so maybe the noise is the bearings going?

That sounds pretty good especially for being climate controlled. Im in NJ I’d say we’re closer to Jordan’s numbers but not quite as high. About twenty years ago it seemed like two three self storage places were going up everytime you went out and they built a ton. The building has obviously since seized but we have a ton of options. My families thoughts always were if you have that much stuff you need to build a building or have a yard sale however everyone’s needs are obviously different but it sounds like you got a great deal! Honestly if I ever gave it any thought, my feeling on it was more like your family's. Too much stuff. There is a point where I think where collecting becomes hoarding, IMO. I do not like clutter, however, I do plan to use this stuff should I get my own home, so I think it is worth keeping. This is where the point came that I didn't want to get rid of it, but it was really getting in the way and stressing me out. So I think in this case a storage unit is good. I did get some stuff moved in this weekend, of course right as I was getting to pull in, the sky turned black and it started sprinkling. Fortunately I got most everything moved in before the bottom let out. Nice thing I realized too about climate controlled is the doors open to the inside hallway so you are out of the rain.

I believe it is a 48" Studio Series, and I can remember these being at Pizza Huts built in the late 80s.

I saw an older Hunter ceiling fan at another thrift store. It had the tapered style switch housing, filigree sideband, and it appeared to be 48" blades, so I am assuming it was a Studio Series. It was an earlier one, as it had the more generic looking canopy and the black Hunter logo on the motor. It appeared to me that it had the 172 mm motor not a 188 mm. Are these worth getting? It had the mounting bracket and screws, etc.
