I believe that one was made somewhere around between 1982-85.. I'm looking at my chart and can't find the exact serial numbers, but that label is from the early to mid 1980s era.. The serial numbers backwards would be 0581 indicating the month/year, but I thought that label was newer than that.. It's obvious that Adrian P got them from a place where they were installed on vaulted ceilings, I've seen those canopies on originals before when installed on ceilings like that... I'm not surprised that you would see some small flaw like that dealing with that seller, talking about the blade bracket that is.... Overall in the situation you are in, it is pretty satisfying.. But someone like me on the other hand that can find originals for a dime a dozen that's complete with everything original from blade bracket to canopy, I would not be, but I also would not spend that much on an original either... If I were to pick up every Hunter original I've seen since 2002. I'd probably have a collection that consists with mostly Hunter Originals, but then again I could be like Adrian P, and could have bought them and then sell them on eBay for $250... Since it draws 2.5 amps and not 2.1, 1981 would make sense to me. While I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to labels and such, it does have the older Hunter and Robbins Myers logo. The blade situation is a little annoying, but its not a visual problem, and I was able to balance it out with weights so its not a real functionality issue either. I'm happy with the outcome, only spent about $5 on extra parts to get it up, plus I don't expect to find one of these around here any time soon, if I was in your place then I may feel a little differently about it. I was extremely impressed with how it was packed, so I still have nothing against Adrian. If I had all the money in the world, I'd buy from him again The mounting system that came with it is definitely a vaulted ceiling mount. At first I was uncertain that it would look right, but it looks good in my opinion. I would still rather have a real canopy, but this will do for now. Good thing the installer bought vaulted ceiling adaptor instead of using ball & sockets. And why is that good in this case? Nice Original, Jordan. The fan is from 1981, according to the serial number. This would make a great living room install, that is where I have my 1989 3 speed original. I also bought it off ebay a few years ago. It was $179.00, but new in the box. Thanks! I could see this doing great in a living room, or a bedroom since its so quiet. I paid $175, it was definitely high but these don't come up ever in my area. Bravo. The cane blades are beautiful. The pictures are actually very good. Is this the canopy is came with? Thanks! The cane blades really are nice. This is the first fan I've got that has real cane blades. This is the canopy it arrived at my house with, though I do not believe this is the canopy it would have originally came with. This mount is for vaulted ceilings (but it can still work on a regular ceiling); its not a typical Original U-bolt or J-hook system. In fact, I don't believe this is even specifically for Hunter Originals as I've seen these canopies at the Home Depot.

Because Originals are too heavy for ball & socket.

Lovely! Glad it arrived safely. Of course an Adrian fan with some of the replacement parts, but I love the cane and the condition overall looks quite superb.

Me too, but I was actually very happy with how it was packed. The cane is great, and the condition is pretty good. The brass is far from superb, its tarnished and blemished in some areas if you look at it under the light, but fortunately the lighting down there is terrible so you can't see it lol. Is it solid brass? I'd polish it out but I won't want it if its plated.. Mechanically speaking it seems to be in perfect condition, the bearings are silent and it has plenty of spin down time. As far as oil goes in these things, I put quite a bit in, up to about an inch - 3/4 inch down from the top of the switch housing. Is that going to be enough or should I add more?

If you know, then why did you ask if it's good that they bought vaulted ceiling adapter?

If you know, then why did you ask if it's good that they bought vaulted ceiling adaptor? Because I'm not hanging it on a vaulted ceiling, therefore what someone bought for the fan 35 years ago when it was hung is completely irrelevant. BTW 'adaptor' isn't a word...

I was saying that the first owner was smart enough to use the adapter. If it was on ball & socket, you might not even have gotten it, and even if you get it, you would have to buy proper hanging system.

Yeah DON'T buff it out, unless you want to end up with chrome. It's like a chrome-ish plating with a thin yellowish lacquer over it. Very fragile finish, even really hot water and a little bit of abrasiveness will take it off. I accidentally did it to a newer Summer Breeze variant, which actually made it cooler but it wasn't my intent. All you need is about 1oz. of oil. So 1 tube Hunter oil, 1/4 bottle of Zoom Spout, etc.

In that case, I definitely won't be cleaning it that much, I don't want to end up with stinkin' chrome! That would be a disaster! lol
What are these tubes you are referring to? I happen to have a what looks like a toothpase tube of oil, on it reads something like "Oil for lubrication of a Hunter ceiling fan". I have no idea where I got it from or where it came from, I've had it for a while. I dumped in the majority of that tube, and it seems to be working well. Not sure how fresh it is though, may top it off with a little Zoom Spout just to be sure its got proper lubrication.
