Canarm Twisters are childhood fans. I have a NIB one in Brushed Pewter from 2003 with the same style box.
Same here. Does yours have the older style motor?
Wrong. Casablancas have a set screw AND the pin thingy. I have a Panama II installed, so I would know.
My 1997 Panama doesn’t have a pin. It’s just a standard PermaLock downord.
The Beginning Of 2015 - Part Four Of Five
1/17/2015
Looking back, it seems as if huggers were a common trend for January...
Fan one - 52" View Fan hugger. It was a little bit of a shock to see this at the ReStore, as in all there years I've volunteered there I have never had a chance to work with one of these. Although View Fans are cool, a common conception about them is their quality (or lack thereof). Being that this hugger was a later model, that definitely holds true. There bearings suck, the motor makes an audible hum on all speeds and the performance is quite mediocre at best. According to the label, this was actually a K-Mart exclusive, which might explain some of the cheapness. Below I list the portals to view this masterpiece. $1.00 per ticket
Labels. Notice the fact that it's UL listed:
Pardon?
Wiring inside the switch housing:
After pulling off the cardboard cover, I was greeted by this:
It appears as if some goo attempted to leak from the front:
Replacement capacitors:
Motor - 153X15 I believe:
Fan installed:
Video soon to come.
Fan two - 52" Air Cool hugger. This certainly was not as "exciting" as the View Fan, however it was certainly higher quality. This probably would have been sold by a re-brander such as Newport or Monterrey. The fan came crammed into a box of a Hampton Bay semi-flushmount light fixture, so I'm guessing that's what replaced it. Inside the box, there was also a single-bulb globe light fixture, a bunch of random screws and some wire connectors. Since I didn't know how to categorize this particular donation (is it hardware, electrical or lighting?), I have decided to reduce the ticket price to $0.50 each.
Older screw and washer setup for blade installation:
Broken blade bracket. How a it could break in that spot, I have no idea:
This is one of those weird Air Cool's that uses a "dual" pull chain (speed and forward/reverse all in the same switch). I've seen a few of these in the past, especially on Saskatchewan Kijiji for some odd reason:
Labels:
Motor - 153X18:
Fan installed. Notice that the replacement blade brackets aren't arch-style (I had to use a generic set instead). The fan ended up moving slightly less air, however what matters most is that it was fully operational:
The included pendants:

Fan one - 42" SMC/Super/Airworks Windsor. I'll admit, this is a bit of a childhood fan, as I bought one of these back in 2010 to add to my collection (keep in mind thatthings have progressed a lot from that point to now)
First here is the first video of the original SMC Windsor I worked with almost five years ago...man time files!
Back to the fan itself, two words come to mind when looking at it:
CHILD'S ROOM!!! Firstly, it was installed using the jewel-tone/pastel blade set (Jewl-tone side facing down). Secondly, there was gum (I couldn't make this crap up if I tried) on one of the blade brackets. Here are the pictures (the free gum was highly inspiring, so here are some free pictures)!
What you see here is exactly how the fan came in. The reason the green blade (or for the colorblind, the blade at the 9 o'clock position) is out of alignment is due to a missing screw:
The generosity here is amazing!
Motor -
135X8:
Look at that beefy stator...
I have no clue what happened to the pictures of the labels...
Look at these classy pendants!
Fan installed:
Fan two - 52" Heritage builder fan. I ended up scrapping this one due to a missing mounting bracket. Though there isn't a whole lot to say about this fan, the labeling is worth noting.
Fan itself:
Motor - 172X14. Not bad considering it's a Heritage:
Labels - here's were things get "interesting" (or more accurately, slightly less monotonous) At first, it all looks pretty typical:
Then, I notice this on the motor:
Stay tuned for more guys (not to worry, there are some far better fans coming up).
