Now that my finals are over, I have some free time to share some fans I got. I got the first 5 from a guy on Craigslist and the other two from eBay. First a Robeson 2385 Edison metal box fan Couldn't find a model number on it anywhere, but I believe it is my oldest fan yet. It has the 3 speed rotary knob switch which suggests it is a later model, I never knew they made these in 3 speeds. I've only ever seen them with the 2 speed push button switch, or the 2 speed rotary knob with two off positions. Next is a Lakewood 200J, I'm not sure if this is a rain guard model or not Holmes box fan with the switch on the front grille and handle on the back, again couldn't find any model numbers I'm not sure if this or the Robeson are my favorite finds, but a piano key Galaxy

Those are nice finds. The Robeson and Holmes box fans are cool, don't see many. My grandmother had the 16" version of your blue Galaxy. I like the green Lasko, I had the clip version in 1992 but returned it because the clip broke. I do have the white version of your fan now. I used to like those Holmes desk fans too, they had different colors. I liked the 12" pedestals they had too.

I would really like to get a Holmes 12", and 19" 4 blade pedestals as they're huge childhood fans for me. This was the pic on the Craigslist ad, when I saw the Robeson and Holmes, I knew I had to go, I couldn't pass these up. Unfortunately the square cabinet Galaxy and Holmes with the handle on top were not there. He and his wife are both high school teachers and uses the fans in their classrooms, I'm guessing they're currently in use. I also was wanting to buy this little Duracraft, but I plugged it in and it didn't work. He claimed it just needed oil, but when you turn it on, it didn't do anything and the blades spun freely.

Those Robeson box fans are awesome! Hope I can find one soon.. The Lakewood I don't think is RainGuard,, as far as I know it they all had blue blades.. That Holmes box fan is a huge childhood fan,, if you ever want to find it a new home I am definitely interested.. That 6" Lasko is neat.. Those were good fans.. How much did you get it for? I would have gotten that Duracraft if it was cheap enough,, may have been a simple fix and that model is relatively rare..

I would have gotten that Duracraft if it was cheap enough,, may have been a simple fix and that model is relatively rare.. I really like all of the fans, the Robeson might be my favorite of them. For a vintage fan, the motor is surprisingly small but it moves a nice amount of air, and it is definitely the quietest of the bunch, except for maybe the Galaxy. When I first turned it on, I was concerned something was wrong with the motor because it spins slower than all the box fans I have, I will have to make a video some time and see what everyone else thinks. As far as the Holmes, I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to part with it and definitely if I find would another one. Unfortunately there is some rust on the bottom of the cabinet as well as some broken grill slats on the front, but it runs fine. Pretty much all those 80's & 90's Holmes are childhood fans for me. I feel bad about the Duracraft, but I was preoccupied with how I was going to bring the other 5 fans into the house without my parents noticing, fortunately we have a big attic with plenty of places to hide a few of them. If it was a green or dark blue/gray one I would've grabbed it. I got all 5 fans for $35 which I think was pretty good considering he regularly cleaned and oiled them, of course some are worth more than others. I paid $10 for the Lasko with 2 something for shipping, in my opinion it was a little on the high side but I've never seen a green one for sale before and didn't want to miss out.

I remember someone saying something about those Robeson motors.. I think they might have been the same ones that Lakewood used at some point in the 90s.. That whole fan is a real oddity all around.. There are a few videos on YouTube that show those fans running..
What kind of motor does the Lakewood have? I'm guessing its one of those later silver tuna-can motors?
35 for all that was a great deal.. The Galaxy alone is probably worth that.. $10 is fair, especially for eBay.. Everything on there is just insanely priced recently..

Very nice selection! I love the Robeson. I have the Super version of the blue 30 cm Galaxy. The Holmes box fans is pretty cool too. I remember Rona selling these around 1999-2000. La Baie was selling this white Holmes desk fan around the same years (1999-2000) and they had a pedestal version. As you mentionned Matt, I would love to find their four blade pedestal fan version. Holmes had very cool pedestal fans around that time. I also like the five green pedestal fan that apparently is still available in the US today and even though it was a loud fan their blue and white five bladed 4-speed pedestal fan was pretty unique too.

It was blue and white with five skinny 50 cm blades and a round base.

The Robeson box fan may have a Samsung motor. That's what a few rarer Lakewood box fans used in the 80s and the DX series oscillating fans and some of the late A series too like my 1200A.
