So, I went to the Gallery Restaurant, and I found 12 Hunter Originals. Here's a picture of 1 of them. You're not going to like this: 11 out of 12 are hanging on ball and socket. As you all know, this is not safe. I have already spoke to the manager about getting the right parts to hang an Original on a vaulted ceiling, and told him that these fans are very heavy and very expensive. He said that he would call for right parts soon, he better do so. And worse, at least 2 of them are controlled by a dimmer switch, and I have spoke with the manager about that as well. Anyway, I made a video of these fans as well:

I worry that rather than replace the mounts, they will just toss the fans. They've held up for this long, I'd leave them.

Looks like they may have replaced something using those canopies with those originals.. Looks like they may have mounted by hook and used the old canopies seeing how Hunter Canopies won't fit flush to ceiling box on that slanted ceiling.. If they are mounted with ball and socket, Id be more worried about a human life than the value of those.. If one were to fall on someone's head directly, it would kill someone.. A life is priceless..

I can actually see the ball in the canopy.

A ball and socket mount can hold more than you think. Would I do it, no. Will they fall? I doubt it. The canopy keeps the socket from separating.

A cheap black Hampton Bay bracket would not hold those, I've broke one in my hands before.. A TAT type bracket probably would, still over age the plastic ball could wear out.. Still it's unsafe..

Yeah, I know they held them for long time, but it's better safe than sorry. One of the reasons I told the manager they were really expensive fans is so he knows how expensive they are before tossing them out.

Again, you're forgetting about the canopy. It strengthens the bracket. Now, once you remove the canopy, the bracket could snap.

Where exactly is this Gallery Restaurant, because many many years ago when I was little, I ate at a restaurant in Mystic Seaport Village, here in CT that had Originals installed like that. I took a picture with a little disposable camera I had, I took this picture around maybe 2004, 2005? Anyways, just now do I realize seeing that the fan in the picture is also on a ball and socket mount.
