I was going to take pictures and a video, had the fan hung and ready, until I discovered the flywheel that is.. I noticed when I first took it out of the box, the flywheel moved up and down the shaft a bit easy, now that explains that...

Someone REALLY needs to start fabricating METAL replacment flywheels for Fasco's 5 and 6 blade fans, similar to the metal flywheels on the Nutone verandah deluxe...

That would be nice, But it's highly unlikely seeing how not much profit would be made.. I hope so too.. I did a search and the only 6 blade flywheels I found were Homestead.. Hum I wonder if one of those would fit? I'm hoping I could fix the one currently on the fan with some kind of glue.. I'm not going to attempt anything until I get some kind of input..

Adam, I know you stumbled across a Fasco World's Fair motor only at a flea mkt. way back when.
Do you still have it?

No that was traded (Scammed) for fake fans.. This has turned into a project.. Here are the products I bought, gonna soak the flywheel in belt conditioner for a few days.. Meant for car belts but I think should work fine with the flywheel..

Isn't there someone who makes the clips for the Hang-Tru fix? I guess it would be much more complicated for them to make such flywheels? I need one as well... I replaced a World's Fair with a busted flywheel several years ago as a side gig for a Habitat customer on the condition that I would return the fan and rehang it if I ever came across a good replacement flywheel. It's still sitting here in the floor of my fan room.

My flywheel is more cracked than I thought.. It's most likely going to be an unsuccessful fix.. What ever the case may be, I hope I can find a replacement..

Replacements are obsolete. My dad makes the Hang-Tru canopy clips, but yes that is much less complicated than a flywheel. The idea of metal FASCO flywheels has been approached since we started the canopy clips, I was never able to get anything from it and frankly I was told it wasn't possible to do in their shop. With the increasing and continually increasing demand, it's coming back to the drawing board. There is a potential for a VERY rough version to be made, as this particular fabrication shop doesn't do major machining. It's more a lot of cutting, bending, and welding. No promises or guarantees but we're looking into it. If anything surfaces it probably wouldn't be the cheapest purchase you'd ever make, but you'd only have to buy it once lol. I'll let you guys know, it's not gonna happen overnight or anything and I don't want to raise hopes too much, but it is being discussed here.

Hopefully it will happen Cole.. I ordered the p13 flywheel which is the same flywheel but drilled for 5 blades, I'm going to drill the holes in it for six blades and cover the other holes with JB Weld.. I still haven't given up on the original flywheel, I came up with a few ideas and used metal strap in places. Here's what it looked like before Here's the results so far.. It's a little rough looking, but it looks like it may be a winner

You could still get a five blade flywheel? I thought those replacements were completely gone too.
Those repairs are rough, but it does look like you got some decent hold there. I'm curious to hear how it worked.

They are still avail at $50.. I just bought one..
I'll be updating the thread as I go.. Tonight will be the final test..
The guy mentioned that they still have the machines to make the flywheels, but they won't do it unless someone buys about 10 thousand of them.. I don't think a collector is going to buy that many of them, when in fact that's probably more money than buying a house.. But I think they still make the five blade one's seeing those go to more models and there is still more of a demand.. I'd say make ones without the holes, you know a blank one, for collectors..

Hopefully your repair holds up for awhile Adam, the idea of getting a 5 blade flywheel and drilling out 6 holes does sound like a good idea, It wouldn't be too difficult since you can use that metal ring as a template.

The repair is not holding up to well, the crack is there again, but it's still moving the blades, a bit wobbly now.. I'm just going to wait till the five blade flywheel arrives and transform it into a six blade..
