There is a Ceiling Fan Group with ton of stuff that gets posted there and no one else. Tom Frampton is a frequent contributor. Join for that reason alone.

You're better off without it.. Indeed. You're not missing a lot unless you really need to find some old friends that you completely lost contact with and wanted to keep contact with. Adding many people you've never met in person at least once is useless.

No wonder many people have BAD social skills nowadays.. Especially teens who weren't around when Facebook wasn't.. I know exactly what you mean. I'm 18, most of my friends don't even have a telephone that just makes calls. Its ridiculous to try to have a conversion with someone that's more than 15 seconds and utilizes full sentences and good grammar.

Greetings!
I'm hoping you lovely people can help me out. Tonight, my son came home from a school dance distraught. "Why can't I just fit in?" Zach is 13 years old with Asperger's Syndrome, and fans have been his livelihood since he was 2. I don't know that age so much matters in this case, but I'm trying to help Zach find some friends that are able to relate to his love for fans.
As I scrolled through this intro post, he called out Max C by his avatar, and oh, does he know you from your Youtube channel. Here are some things he told me. "I think he's done this for 4 years. I think he started off collecting fans, and now he works at a Habitat store, I think. He takes them and fixes them up and makes them better. I'm not sure if he keeps them or takes them back yet. The newest video he has is a ceiling fan that's an SMC U42. When he originally got it was all grey, so he used some left over blue spray paint from an art project to make it a little more fancy. He also had to glue some blades back together because they were split, and as he was working on it he, one of the blade brackets snapped on him. I think he rated it 4 out of 5 stars. I think he lives in Canada, because when he got the Hamption Bay Middleton he said that it was made in China, brought to America, and later on they made it an. exclusive buy in Canada - the brushed nickel finish was only out at the time. Back in the 80's and 90's, fans in Canada had three pull chains, because they didn't have a reverse switch. Also, he's very experienced with the fans he collects. He knows everything about them like when they were made, where they are made... there are some he doesn't know, but almost every single one he knows a lot of information about. I would like to know how old he is, because I'm thinking he might be my same age or a little older than me, because in his first videos, he sounds like a 10 year old or something, no offense, and then his voice changed drastically, and I got confused and couldn't tell how old he really is."
He's a sponge when it comes to this info, and when it comes to fans, as you may have guessed, he can talk up a storm. He prefers vintage fans over newer fans, because "they are better quality, and fans today are made with cheap materials. Some fan companies use good quality parts like Fanimation."
So ya! There's Zach in a nutshell. =) I'm not sure how well he'll do with forums as it's a new territory, but I'm sure, if any of you are willing, we can figure something out. =)
Thanks so much! Shonda and Zach =)

I shall try to find ya! =) You're about 3 hours from the Fanimation Fan Museum, can we organize a trip for your son? Myself and some other collectors could meet you there! There are some collectors in Ohio, one guy I wouldnt consider trustworthy, and some very nice guys. There is a fan community on Facebook your son would fit in well. eMail me.
