Max, NIB ceiling fans are rare in my restore. I got since 2008-2009 10 nib fans. Some of then were used in box. My smc was the 10th one.
Hampton bay industrial would be perfect, As they are top mounted fan, they would be at the same height as a flushmount/hugger fan
For the light kits, you're right, I saw the same thing on kendal lighting's website They had a fan with a single 100w blub
At my restore, I sure care about quality. If I trashed all the fans that are humming or wobbling I'd trash a lot of them... I have to sale what people want, A nice fan with lights in good cosmetic condition, they dont care about quality, as long as the fan looks nice But it's nice if you get a lot of fans used in boxes They are not yellowed trash missing screws

Max, NIB ceiling fans are rare in my Restore. I got since 2008-2009 10 NIB fans. Some of then were used in box. My SMC was the 10th one. I see your point. Besides all these Hampton Bay's, I've also got about ten over the years. Hampton bay industrial would be perfect, As they are top mounted fan, they would be at the same height as a flushmount/hugger fan. If the ceiling is 9'3", yes they would be a good choice. For the light kits, you're right, I saw the same thing on Kendal Lighting's website They had a fan with a single 100w blub I know Kendal used to have a very large selection of halogen light kit's. I know that isn't a whole lot of the contemporary ones like this one these days: At my restore, I sure care about quality. If I trashed all the fans that are humming or wobbling I'd trash a lot of them... I have to sell what people want, a nice fan with lights in good cosmetic condition, they don't care about quality, as long as the fan looks nice. But it's nice if you get a lot of fans new in boxes They are not yellowed trash missing screws That's exactly it. People buy for looks, and not for quality. And as for the new Hampton Bay's and Hunter's, it's a blessing and a curse. On one hand it's good because the ReStore can make a lot of money from these fans, but on the other it's sad to see just how bad Hunter's latest fans are

54th, 1989 Canarm The fan had PB blade brackets but they were painted. Motor housing and canopy were also repainted. 55th and 56th, 1989 Canarm spirit of saturn copy Both fans came in with defective switch housing remote control kit They both came with the remote but inside it, there were only the wires and nothing to attach the battery I am waiting for PB or WH switch housing with pull chains, both sets of blades came together And they came with integrated light kit... which are not fitting on the fans, These were the last fans I got in July, I got in the last month 12 fans. Have a good week !

I'm always surprised when a newer fan get sold before a heavy and powerful ceiling fan I'm generally not. People have been trained to buy what looks good and not what's high quality. See the thread LOL for more of my opinions on modern-day fans...

For you guys this week, The repainted smc in my bedroom became louder and louder... so I went to lowes and bought a new fan I'm surprised by how much air this fan moves The old fan, after it's last run New fan in it's box The fan was easy to assemble. It has this plug in the mounting bracket and easy to assemble blades brackets I decided to put the repainted spot light kit I don't know what i'll do with it. the light kit is glossy black, and the fan matte black And now, in store. 57th, 1993 CANARM 58th, 1991 CANARM High Lite finish was in rough shape and light shades not original to the fan powerful fan 59th, Undated Canarm Catalyst II fan was not working In store this week' Many many light fixtures

I like the replacement fan you picked! As for the light kit, if it doesn't bother you, keep it, or if it does bother you, get a matching light kit from Lowe's.

Arghh it's sad that the SMC hugger was that noisy. It looked nice. If you wanted a quality 107 cm matte black fan I could have sold you my almost never used NIB Casablanca Ventura II.
From what Lowers did you got that Harbor Breeze? They are no Lowes in Québec so far. I hope they soon start to use the same wire connexion on 120 volts fans as they use on 220 volts fans to avoid using wire connectors.
The stencil on the 1993 Canarm is very cool.

For you guys this week, The repainted smc in my bedroom became louder and louder... so I went to lowes and bought a new fan I'm surprised by how much air this fan moves The old fan, after it's last run As good quality as these older SMC UB42's are, they have one major problem and that is noise. Being that they are only single capacitor, they tend hum a lot. New fan in it's box The fan was easy to assemble. It has this plug in the mounting bracket and easy to assemble blades brackets I decided to put the repainted spot light kit I don't know what I'll do with it. the light kit is glossy black, and the fan matte black Interesting blade brackets. The fan almost looks like a Westinghouse. Would you mind taking a picture of the UL file listing? And now, in store. 57th, 1993 CANARM These are childhood fans for me! Judging by the canopy, this is the PowerMax-made version as opposed to the TAT-mad one. 58th, 1991 CANARM High Lite finish was in rough shape and light shades not original to the fan powerful fan Whoa, that brass looks very pitted. How much are you going to sell it for? 59th, Undated Canarm Catalyst II fan was not working Was the light working, or was the whole fan non-functional? Sometimes if the reverse pull chain is worn out, pulling it a few times can bring a seemingly dead fan back to life. Arghh it's sad that the SMC hugger was that noisy. It looked nice. If you wanted a quality 107 cm matte black fan I could have sold you my almost never used NIB Casablanca Ventura II. That would have matched well.

Jean, I went to the Lowes in Plattsburgh, Ny
At first, I thought the Canarm was a Heritage, judging by the stencil, and overall looking of the fan, I was suprised to see a stencil like this one on a canarm

Why would a single capacitor fan hum more?

Max, The smc made a terrible sound It was a pleasure to uninstall it When i'll found a new light kit, i'll send to Entraide the old fan to resell it again.
I'll post pictures of the ul files for you,
For the high lite, if the fan was in perfect condition, i would have sold it for 20 or 25$ Just because it has an uplight. But because the finish was tarnished, the blades bent and the light glasses are not originals I put the fan for sale for 15$ maybe if I can't sell it, I will lower the price to 10$
On the catalyst II , the light kit was working, I did try to resurect the fan, I did that many time, but this time the fan was not working

Why would a single capacitor fan hum more? I forgot the exact reason, but every single capacitor fan I have worked with has had at least some motor hum, unlike dual or triple capacitor fans. Max, The SMC made a terrible sound It was a pleasure to uninstall it. When I'll found a new light kit, I'll send it to Entraide the old fan to resell it again. Maybe the motor is defective? New fans shouldn't make noise like that. I'll post pictures of the UL files for you. Thank you! For the high lite, if the fan was in perfect condition, I would have sold it for 20 or 25$ just because it has an uplight. But because the finish was tarnished, the blades bent and the light glasses are not originals I put the fan for sale for 15$ maybe if I can't sell it, I will lower the price to 10$ That makes sense. For $15.00, someone will probably buy it for a spare bedroom or maybe a workshop. On the Catalyst II , the light kit was working, I did try to resurrect the fan, I did that many time, but this time the fan was just not working. That does happen sometimes.
