I dont remember what was in the guest room before. Crown is an improvement. I dont like the Saturn. I'd put the Original back and modify the low speed or add a wall control. Or see if it in reverse is any better. I'd love to see you have something 70s/early 80s in the family room. In the last post it was a white Lady Delta I think. It was the Mercury for awhile again until I used it in the family room. I wanted to swap it out for the Panasonic anyways though. Good lol. Well I'll see what I can do with it. Since it's currently down I can mess around. Reverse didn't do much for me, the airflow down the wall wasn't much of an improvement. I would like that as well, the remote thing is the new problem. There's lots of more interesting fans I'd love to put there but none of the canopies fit the receiver. It's not really my choice on the remote anymore, my mom likes the convenience a LOT since she can't walk to the other side of the room. Are there other remote kits available that fit other canopies better than Hunter kits? I've never really looked.

Some of the smaller receivers fit in the ceiling box rather than in the canopy.

I think I can say that I don't change my fans around much at all then. The Craftmade Decorative have been where it is since October 2009 and the SMC Promo Deluxe since April 2010.
I thought you were really set with the beautiful black Hunter Original.
The Saturn is very special this way. I don't really like black blades on a fan that is mostly white. Do you have actual white Saturn blades for it?
Whoa! I've never heard of people getting sick for seeing dark blades spinning against a white ceiling. That's actually my favorite combination.
The Panasonic is my favorite one. The shades you put are very cute. You just need to find a brass 3-light fitter to match better the proportions of this fan.
In the spring, I would like to put back my brass Casablanca Panama 4-speed. The last time I had it was in April 2010. I've never really had the chance to use this fan over a summer. Because of the fragile flywheel my Zephyr have, I don't like to use it on full speed but with the Panama I would have no problem using it on high speed, plus being 4-speed it had two different types of medium which gives more choices. The second fastest speed would be perfect for very hot days.

Sorry, I didn't realize someone else posted here. My problem is I have so many options that I want to try them all. If I had like 10 fans and never got any more they'd stay pretty much in place. I still am set on the Original, it's gonna go back up eventually. I like the Saturn light because it matches a lamp I got but otherwise it's not doing it for me at all. I have the white Saturn blades for it, I got these black ones for my black/chrome Saturn but tried them on the white for the heck of it. I mean it's not like she was vomiting from it or anything, she just has crazy sensations I think partially due to some of the meds she has to be on. Hm, three lights. I quite like that idea. I do have one with kinda loopy arms but it's not in good shape. I used a Hunter light because the brass on the Panasonic is actually much like Hunter's, not very yellow. With that, I have a couple updates: Finally got a metal box in, so the pewter LP has been replaced with my Union hugger: Tell me if I'm getting closer on this one, Dan. I'm LOVING this SMC after I got it up today, Hunter receiver was a pain to get in there but it did fit (speeds are a little wonky but that's okay). I had limitations on this one again. Evidently my mom hates cane, so if I put the SMC blades on it'd be immediately rejected, couldn't flip them on account of the huge sticker on the other side. I used Casablanca, thought the tips were the closest to SMC I had. The globes aren't set in stone, but I know both parents will hate tulip shades or anything that looks 70s so I'm not sure what to do there.

Closer . . .
Union is an improvement for sure!

Wish I'd realized putting this thing on ball/socket would work a lot sooner, this is my favorite one since the Amphora. I'm afraid myself to go all out vintage, I think it'd look way off with the light semi-modern style of literally everything in the room.
Yeah I've wanted that Union there since I got it but never had time to replace the horrid plastic box.

I'd like it more with SMC blades, preferably stencil. But I like it.

Stencil I think would be subtle enough, in fact I quite considered that after stumbling over the cane dilemma. I think the only stencil SMC set I have for 52" fans is NIB white with the smaller spacing. It just feels awesome to be implementing some quality imports again, even if I have to mix and match a bit to make it work.

For some reason, I feel that solid walnut wing-tip Hunter blades would be a nice fit here...

If you're doing non SMC blades, I think Andrew's idea is pretty cool.
I have spare cane SMC blades, but no stencil.

Wing-tip would be nice too, something else that I also do not have.
I have spare cane as well, I have too many cane sets and no stencil.

Coleton: I have decided part of what bothers me about the SMC is the 4 light kit. 4 light kits are very dining-room-y to me, living rooms need something like a bowl light kit. Got any that would look good on there?

I have one nice bowl, but it doesn't throw out a lot of light, practically to the point that I could just do no light at all. I'll keep an eye out for some other options. I wish I'd never installed a light on any of the fans I put up, now the parents won't let me do one without a light.

I have lived with MS for 23 years, I know how it is. My mom can't stand bass notes, yet, I play bass and have for many years. Made it kinda difficult.

Yeah I dont like overhead lights in living rooms. I say you gradually put dimmer and dimmer bulbs until the bowl light is acceptable, and then maybe down to no light!
