Thought I'd post the fans I currently have. At some point I have the feeling I'm going to try to get rid of some stuff, but I'll let you know when the time comes. I\m sure I've posted some of the pics that I got off craigslist but the pics here are of the fans now that I have them. Enjoy! Banvil/Decorafan Emperor The SMC thingy (I forget the name) that I've had for ages. The date on it is 2000. Definitly going to want to get rid of this. The Consumers Distributing fan, NIB that I picked up at a thrift store, 1989. Play It Again Sam/Leslie Locke "Scottsdale", NIB, May 1982. (Dan has staked his claim on this one!) Tha hawt little Wing Tat I just got! March '83 on it. BTW, rediculously long downrod on it, anybody have a shorter one? Oh, heres another SMC I got at the same thrift shop but its missing a blade. I've decided to part it out, let me know if anybody is after any parts of it.

You have some great fans now.
That TAT is really interesting, the switch housing is not really your avarage TAT. You can always do the hacksaw trick on the downrod if it's a problem.

It took me a while to drag my derriere to put up the Tat (I had to take down the Play It Again to do it), but now that I have, I really like it, very cute. But you're right, the switch housing is different, probably because there are no switches on it, just control from the wall. That and the bell canopy is unusual. As for the Emperor, its hard going from a big bright fluorescent light to this single 60 watt bulb. I find the style is a little "Country Kitchen Buffet" for me, BUT its cute none the less.

Wow that Banvil Emperor fan is WAY better than a CRAPPY fluorescent light fixture! 60Watt from the ceiling is still a lot. Most a ceiling light fixtures in my house I put 40Watt because I think 60Watt(coming from the ceiling) is too bright. Light from the ceiling always seems brighter because its higher so its able to distribute more light. I can even see the trace from the previous fluorescent strip fixture left on the ceiling. God I HATE Fluorescent. INCLUDING CFL. Too many peoples don't really understand that CFL actually give you the same lighting that a crappy commercial like fluorescent tube would give you. Who want commercial type light in their house? WAY too bright and depressing. That white SMC is what I would call an Canadian Tire classic. They STILL sell it! Its call the Windsor. Whoa I don't recall ever seeing a TAT like that. But I new they have ever use bell canopy! So its like your Play It Again Sam fan? The switch housing is just for light kit?

I like CFL's..but not with ceiling fans that have that stupid wattage limiter regulation here in the States. And I really don't like plain old light fixtures..long tube or decorative.

Yeah, the Tat operates the same as the Play It Again. Actually, I'm using the Play It Again's wall control. The Play It Again was much more powerful, I was too afraid to turn it up to full, lol. It's just wierd because the fluorescent gave off so much light and now with the upper half of the room covered in yellow light from the glass, it almost has a dark sickly feel. I'm not saying that either one is better, its just a drastic difference between the two. And yeah, actually I'm pretty sure that both the SMC's are Canadian Tire classics. In fact, I think thats where I got the white one. I dont recally seeing the brass one there last time I went in tho.

Nice fans! I like the Banvil Emperor. The NIB spinner is cool, too.

Thanks Rick, I'm going to try to get rid of the NIB spinner. The Emperor is great. It runs a little noisy and has a bit of a wobble to it but aside from that its cool. I got it because its part of that same line of Envirofan/Banvil/Decorafans that I've been after for years. Its evident in the shape of the blade tips and the two gold tassel pulls.

I love the Banvil. You can get CFL bulbs that give up to 300 watts of light still using under 60 watts, get one of those I also love the PIAS as you know. I havent seen a Wing Tat exactly like that before, I like it. You can get some galvanized pipe at your hardware store of the appropriate length.

UPDATE TO MY COLLECTION: Yesterday, I stopped at a thrift store, and found my 4th ceiling fan, priced insanely cheap ($5!!!!!). It is a Yuson 42" hugger ceiling fan in antique brass, with 4 cane blades. Very neat. Dated June 1987. Is complete with mounting bracket. [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] Picture taken upside down ;D: [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] This fan actually came with 2 sets of glass; this is the 2nd set that I didn't use since one is cracked: [a href=" "] [/a] You can see the dust on the blades : [a href=" "] [/a] And this is how I found out the fan is Yuson: [a href=" "] [/a] Enjoy the pics!!!
