Here are my sightings for August including my sightings from my second trip to France. There are a few fans to identify and for those who like chrome fans you are served.
First some pictures of the Canarms at my local Réno-Dépôt store. It opened in 1994 or 1995. Even though I went to this store many times, I always though these Canarms had three lines on the blades but they are actually the version with only one line which were probably made in 1993. This time a lot of them were off so I could see the blades and there was not a lot of people in the store so it was easy to take photos. They are not very good because I had my smaller camera and not the better one with the good zoom. For those of you who like very dusy metal bladed fans, you are served. Each photo shows a different fan.
A store in the west trip of the island of Montréal that seems to have been emptied recently has two black and white 1990's Canarms 132 cm still on.
The other one.
Another store very close to it that's also been emptied recently that has a SMC Laguna 90 cm that I posted about earlier in this thread (
page 34) also has a 1990's polished brass Canarm 107 cm with the housing removed.
Further in the back it has this very cool black late 1990's Nadair Viento 107 cm
Now moving to the other side of the Atlantic, here for my sightings from France (230 volts 50 Hz).
In an Australian restaurant in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the Pas-de-Calais about three TAT 120 cm with three metal contoured blades. They are pretty common. These ones were painted in orange and brown colours to match the restaurant aboriginal theme. We can't see it well because those pictures are taken at contre jour.
Still in Boulogne-sur-Mer a supermarket has this classic antique brass Rovex GE vent 132 cm. One bracket is bent. It has three pull chains but the 3rd one is on the other side of the globe.
A tobacco store in Arras, Pas-de-Calais has this unknown antique brass GE vent 132 cm.
In Paris, IDF:
A chrome Inspire Dailan 120 cm in a fast food restaurant in the 8th arrondissement.
This is probably my most special sightings. Two 1950's, early 1960's Elge in a retro style diner. One of each size all complete with the bottom plates.
90 cm
120 cm with the blades well curved up. Very cool!
Brasserie Julien in the 10th arrondissement has a classic early 20th century Art Nouveau decor with a beautiful ceiling with stained glass and two mid to late 1980's Xpelair Whispair 104 cm. It's nice to finally see some in real after only seeing them in a movie.
No. 1
No. 2
A chrome S&P HTB 90 cm in a café near Montmartre. The blades are installed on the wrong side.
A fan spinning in a Subway restaurant. Some Subways restaurants in France have some Regencies but this one doesn't appear to be a Regency. Anybody know what is this?
In a restaurant in the Marais, two chrome S&P HTB 140 cm spinning fast. The first one taken with flash.
The second one without flash.
An awesome chrome finish TAT 140 cm in a bar in the Marais.
A classic brasserie on île Saint-Louis has two Westinghouse Industrials 120 cm painted in matte black. This one was off, the other one on low. This would be the current version with the classic contoured blades. The previous version had the blades more specific to Encon/Westinghouse for metal blades fans of 120 cm and under.
A Westinghouse Apollo Elite 132 cm with Westinghouse's type of
flywheel in a restaurant in the Marais.
A bakery in the Marais has about three or four of those recent white GE vents 132 cm with five cane blades and stamped steel brackets. Some were spinning, some were off. They are most likely Styling branded.
Another one.
Surprise surprise! Another one of those gorgeous restored Eole 140 cm from the 1920's. Some of you probably remember when they were selling them all restored on eBay around 2006-2009.
Inspire Némo spinning on low in a small supermarket in the Marais.
Still in the Marais, an unknown fan spinning in a boutique.
An unknown metal blade fan in a café on île Saint-Louis. It reminds me of a CMC but I know it's not one because of the canopies.
A TAT 102 cm painted in black in a boutique on île Saint-Louis.
An early 1990's Nadair Designer 107 cm like my grandparents have in a restaurant on île Saint-Louis. Unfortunately it was painted in an ugly matte black.
A white S&P HTB 140 cm spinning on low in an ice cream bar on île Saint-Louis.
A restaurant on île Saint-Louis has a few of those antique brass unknown fans with Edison style light bulbs.
In a restaurant in île de la Cité I saw one of those La Meridiana fans imitating very badly a Marelli Maestralino. The blades are so skinny.
Moving now to city of Lille in the north a Vortice 1S Design 140 cm in a music store. They were two.
In the city of Courtrai (Kortrijk in Dutch) in the Flanders region of Belgique, an awesome black and chrome Cinni Bombay in a fine supermarket.
Finally the last pictures were taken in various shops and restaurants in the beach town of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage on the Côte d'Opale in the Pas-de-Calais.
Two S&P HTB 140 cm.
Two mid to late 1980's TAT-Kando 140 cm in a small art gallery.
A recent pewter finish semi-spinner 107 cm with an oversize DEL light bulb most probably of the Styling brand.
Two more white S&P HTB 140 cm fans.
Two polished brass CEC Newport 132 cm in a real estate agency. One has longer brackets. I guess this was a late 1980's model.
Regular brackets
Longer brackets.
A dark chrome SMC Stealth from the 2000's. This is not the older 4-speed version from the 1990's which was sold at Sears.
Polished brass SMC Windsor style 132 cm fan probably from the late 1990's.
Enjoy and comment. Please let me know what the unknown fans are if you know
