In my high school, there are only two fans that I know of. There is a brown industrial in the auto shop, and I saw a flash of this really dirty 42" white & polished brass dual mount fan. Where is the dual mount fan? Any idea of the make of the industrial?

oddly enough i have never seen any schools down here with any ceiling fans, geuss they figure all the kids would probably have fun throwing objects into them while on high or something lol.

Conniston Middle had ceiling fans in allot of there classrooms. I remember them being Fasco Charlestons. I'm pretty sure they plowed over with the school when modernizing the school. Forest Hill High had these in the pottery room www.vintageceilingfans.com/huntersummerbreezetypeb.htmlBut they were dark brown and on long downrods. They were takin down back in late 98 or early 99, when they finally put AC in the classroom. That classroom now no longer exist, after tearing that school down and rebuilding it... Adam

Schools didnt have fans where I grew up either, despite the fact that many were not air conditioned. We did have tons of cool box fans. Now that I am older and long past in school, they are adding fans gradually to the schools. I will find the "fans in schools" thread and post to that.

Here is pictures of my old high school, Forest Hill Community High School, West Palm Beach, FL. In the process of tearing it down. These are pictures of the old 500 building before tearing it down. The before was when they tore down the 200, 300, 400, buildings. I will soon have pictures of them.. Here are pictures of the classrooms that were in that building. Spanish, drama, and drafting. I took drafting and spanish.. Drafting Class Spanish classes. There was a few of them. I was in this one in c/o of 1994-95. of course I failed and this one in 1997-98 and also failed. Drama More picture to come, as I convert them from video tape.. Adam

I'm taking drafting right now. It is my only class that's air-conditioned . Dan, the dual mount is in this office by the garage, cheap k-mart fan. I know it's K-mart because I've seen it there before. No idea about the industrial. It is brown, uses a J-hook, arch-end blades.

I'm suprised there is schools out there that still don't AC.. Adam Most of my schools didnt have AC. it's very difficult to add it to some older buildings. My high school was built in the 1920s. All of the newer schools have it, as do the post-1990s additions and rennovations.

Forest Hill was built in the 60s. The first graduating class was 1962. As you can see the buildings were not designed for AC, thats why they were in the windows. Which was, as I was told by a teacher that was their since the 70s, said that they were added in the late 1970s, And in 1984-85 the buildings were updated with new drop ceilings and lighting. As the ceiling before contained Asbestos.

that was the same situation with boca high, all of the 100, 200, 300, and 600 buildings there did not have AC or drop ceilings either. i was talking to the computer tech support person that worked at the school and graduated from there also, and he said instead they had sliding doors that people can go out on a balcony and to open and get air, and the drop ceilings and ac wasnt added til the 80s. the school was built in 1963. i noticed they always remove the bulbs from the buildings before demo, geuss cause the glass can get everywhere.
