I drive a 1992 Volvo and a 1996 Honda Civic... I would never drive an American car.

I still drive my first car, a 2002 Ford Taurus SE. It has about 49,800 miles. It'll hit 50,000 pretty soon, probably within 3 weeks or so.

Just to make this relate back to ceiling fans, here are a few analogies that I came up with;
An automobile is to a ceiling fan as…
A Honda Accord is to a Craftmade CXL, A Honda Civic is to Craftmade Decorative, A Pontiac Grand Am is to a Harbor Breeze Cheshire A Chevy Cavalier is to a Hampton Bay Littleton A Dodge Neon is to a Hampton Bay Grayton A 1980 Mercedes-Benz is to a CasaBlanca Zephyr, A new Mercedes-Benz is to a new CasaBlanca, And finally… An automobile is to a ceiling fan, As a Model-T Ford is to a Hunter Original...

Apparently Honda *Minivans* are overrated. Minivans, foreign or domestic, just show how stupid and cliche' the American public is anyway. Give me an imported station wagon anyday. PS... I had two friends who each drove a Neon, and one conked out at about 80,000, and the other only has about 60,000 and it is falling apart(I borrowed it one time, and I was unable to shut the driver's door... the latch was bent and the door kept flying open)... Not everyone is a certified Chrysler mechanic

I'll admit, my neon is cheaply made. Plastic interior, framless windows on the doors. For a car that costs less than $1,500 to manufacture it's held up pretty well. I bought it with 118K back in 2003. The previous owner decided it was smart to dump 4 bottles of Bars Stop leak in the radiator to cover up a leaking head gasket. Needless to say, two days later the motor locked up. I bought it for $100.00, put a used motor that I got for free and the cars has been driven almost every day. Other than routine maintaince and a waterpump, the car has been incredibly reliable. Keeping in mind that this is a 11 year old car. It just drove up from Northern GA to Illinois and back two weeks ago, 38 MPG, 2,000 total traveled miles (to, between and from).
Out of all the cars I've owned, not one, but one has left me straded.
You guessed it, the 1989 Accord. The worst car I ever bought. At least I can rest knowing that it was crushed in to a cube.
Each one to their own I guess. I respect that you hate american cars, I work on them all day so you know how I probabily feel ;D
On the other hand My friend had a 1987 Volvo 760 GLE Turbo with 260K on it. That car was soo fun to drive. Too bad we were being stupid and overspooled the turbo, blew out the bearings and seized it up, causing the engine to fill with exhaust gas and blow a hole in the block.

The Civic is pretty tinny too, but I have never had a problem with it mechanically. Oh well, with current trends, in a few years every car company will be owned by some other company anyway and it will be just one big amalgamate, Then I won't have to hear any more of this "buy American" crap, because everything will all essentially be the same.

That is true. GM will cut off Buick and Pontiac in the next 15 years, Chrysler is down to three brands right now, Ford is still thinking about killing off Mercury (every one of their cars are just a rebaged ford version (like Taurus and Sable) ) . Toyota will probabily buy out GM...... Funny to see howmany brands we've lost since 1998: Geo Eagle Plymouth Oldsmobile I just take it day by day. I just want to keep my job. As for that Civic, CHANGE THE TIMING BELT every 60K! If that snaps, the valves meet the pistons and you're looking at a $2,000 repair bill for a new cylinder head and possibily pistons. I've seen it happen.

Well when the boost level is controled by the ECU (as with all stock turbo cars) it will prevent it from overboosting. However, with this particular Volvo, the ECU no longer controled the turbo as several amature volvo "mechanics" , rather than replacing the ECU like anyone with a brain woud, had by passed the ECU making the turbo self controled with a mess of vaccum lines, manual boost valve which did nothing as the car would still boost its self sitting at a stop light, and the wastegate rusted off of the swingvalve (as the rest of the car was rusting to peices). So the idiot mechanic had welded a sheet metal washer to the end of the wastegate arm. What does it do? Slides up the swingvalve and poped off. Then the car would then overboost its self constantly. Having two 16 year olds (at the time) driving it, espacally the way we did, didn't help.

Surely you jest. A Toyota Echo is to a POS HERITAGE!!!
With that said, a 153mm is to a 2.0-L 4banger a 172mm is to a 2.1+L 4banger <--My 03 Cavalier, with a 2.2 ECOTEC a 188mm is to a 6 cylinder a K55 or other flywheel motor is to a V8 Hunter Original motor = 70s muscle car.
