Here is my little Windmere I got in 1993. I also have one of the 6" oscillators from the late 90s, I got at the dollar store. I recently found the same exact fan!

Thats a pretty good idea really. never would have thought of that. the WD-40 will losen up any greese on the motor shaft (in most cases they put greese around it before putting the blades on) the WD-40 will loosen that up and the heat from the hair dryer should warm it up enough to where it will just slide off.

I have a 9" (in black) and a 4" (in red) the 4" i bought new back in 2004. it has survived quite a bit of abuse by me over the years. still works great! as for the 9" posted. someone told me that that was one of the real early variations of the HV-9.

Heres a few recent finds i never posted here. The trash found Lakewood P-223 2nd gen. this is an interesting one. (well the back story is) i seen this during my walk around the neighborhood. and the guy was not home at the time. so i went back later knocked on his door asked about this and a 1200DX that was sitting in his backyard. he told me that they did not run. so take them. this one ran perfectly fine. the DX on the other hand became a parts donor for anther DX i found. And now the Robeson. i also found this in the trash. it was sitting next to a bunch of dead potted plants and they had grown onto the back grill. this fan was nasty. it had a spider nest and a live spider inside the motor. i cleaned all that out and oiled it and it runs perfectly fine now. And now for the Holmes Tropi Cool this is one of the more recent ones. i had bought this back in 2011 and gave it to my friends to use. i got it back it was pretty dusty. but ran perfectly fine. The Champion 16" Desk fan. i got this at my local flea market for $7. it sat there for over a year and i passed on it many times. i felt bad for it so it came home with me. it will be going to anther collector soon in trade for anther fan i want. And finally the Lakewood 1200DX this fan was anther case of me lending out a fan..but this one was in bad shape when i got it back. it was missing the front grill and was really dirty. luckly since i had that parts DX i used its grill for this one and cleaned it up. runs great! And here is it with its bigger brother the 1600DX
