This is also a valid point, but in this age of technology where everything is so advanced and complex, I would think a relatively simple device like a fan control would be pretty solid in its first revision on the market.

Personally I don't see a purpose of controlling a fan while not home or on the other side of the planet.. But I guess if people have time to sit at a dinner table and take pics of their dinner plate and post on facebook while being the center of attention, then it gives more reason for people to stare at their phones and pay more attention to whats going on in that little mobile device than whats actually going on around them.. I almost ran someone over due to the fact they were standing in the middle of the road looking down at their phone... I slowly watch this world fall apart as this technology advances.. And all it's doing is making people lazy, and giving them metal disorders.. On top of that, filling the pockets of Mark Zuckerberg.. No thankyou.. I don't need facebook for anything..

I have to dodge people on their phones while walking down the sidewalk at work all the time, nobody pays attention to where they're going. It really is an issue.

Honestly, I'm more with you guys on the overall technology issue. Too much social media. One of the main considerations I did have for finally getting on Facebook was to continue growing my ties with fan and lighting companies as well as showrooms. I felt I was missing a major platform with them, and I think it's paid off. That aside, I'm in a few groups and that's pretty much it. Nothing I couldn't live without, but they're also things that have proven beneficial for me.
As far as home or business automation, that's a whole other thing for me. I think that is an area where technology is being applied in a beneficial way. Sure, running just your fan or a couple light bulbs from your smartphone right now might be kinda stupid. Someday, though, all air comfort and handling systems along with fans are going to be interconnected to maintain comfort at the highest efficiency possible. I don't think that's such a horrible prospect.

This mostly NIB Minka Aire Corinthian was today's Habitat find. It's a bit gaudy for my tastes, but I really can't pass up a showroom grade fan when it's NIB, and sitting in front of me with a reasonable price on it. Painstaking would be the word I would use to describe installation of this thing, it was the first time I've really referenced an installation manual in years and it was no help lol. It moves a lot of air for how ornamental it looks, no complaints there but low speed on the integrated remote is WAY too fast. The uplight is actually quite pleasing, I wasn't sure what to expect there for output, but then again I have oversized bulbs in since I don't regularly have 25w candelabra base bulbs (bulbs are dimmed in the pictures). BTW if you didn't read the box, that is a real, solid piece of alabaster stone on there, so it is a very heavy fan. The included mounting bracket actually forces you to use lag bolts, comparable to what's included with an Original, but a ball/socket bracket. Since there is no way to mount it directly to a box, I used a sturdy Emerson bracket here for demonstration purposes.

I really like this! Prefer the darker blades by a longshot.

Today's new arrival was this EPIC NIB Casablanca Cathay in the Mandarin Red finish. Been wanting one of these ever since I first saw pictures of the red ones, just been waiting for an opportunity to present itself. It is one of the ones on eBay (from Dakota Russell's operation), if you saw them. Late one night/early one morning, I refreshed the page and the price had been dropped down, so I knew I had to grab one or I'd miss them both. It's kinda like the 19th Century in performance, doesn't spin too fast but there isn't really a lack of air movement resulting, it really puts the air out well.

So here is another recent acquisition, a Casablanca Academy Gallery in polished chrome. I've wanted a chrome Academy since the model was introduced some years ago, and I was disappointed that they discontinued the chrome when the model was "Hunterized". I also want a chrome Holliston, but that's a separate thing lol. Anyway, I wasn't really actively looking for the Academy, but this one came up pretty cheap and I couldn't pass on it. Ideally I'd like to have had the non-Gallery fan so that I could go without the light altogether (the switch housing assemblies are completely different between the two fans), but took what I could get. I wanted to order the non-Gallery parts from Casablanca/Hunter, but they've kind of given me a bit of a runaround so I don't think I really want to give them any money right now. Maybe I'll still do it, IDK, I'm just a little annoyed with them at the moment. I'll say straight up, I bought the fan because I personally like the styling of them, not because I was expecting any kind of performance from it. I think it's a very clean and elegant design, and I love chrome so it automatically wins. Since it's pre-Hunterized, it uses the modernized Hang-Tru which I LOVE, they should've implemented that across the Hunter and Casablanca lines instead of the new system, but it's cast so I guess it cost too much $$. All that said, I'm moderately impressed by the performance. It's a 54" fan with 14 degree pitch and relatively heavy blade arms, but only uses a 172mm motor. I was expecting typical slow, underpowered Hunter that is typical of recent years. Not so. It doesn't really feel particularly underpowered to me. Spins faster than newer 52"+ Hunters for sure, and moves some good air. I wouldn't pay retail, but it's not a bad fan to consider if you could get a deal.

Nice find! Can you use the 99019 remote control with it?

No, the receiver wouldn't fit inside the Hang-Tru. I don't think I can make it work in the motor housings of spinner motor fans either.

If you've been around these parts for awhile, you probably know Clay I. He and I stay in contact, I've gotten some amazing fans from him in the past. He acquired this little NIB Scotty's Supreme, and I just had to get it. The outer box illustration is obviously one of those Ju Feng things, not even close to what's inside. I wasn't exactly sure which Mark I to expect, but I knew it'd be good either way. This thing is ADORABLE, so cute and of course it spins blindingly fast. Came with its own variable speed control, I had to drill a hole in the outer metal case of it to access the trim pot though since low speed was, as typical, adjusted way too fast. There are a lot of finish imperfections from the factory, nothing terrible but I hate that particularly on NIB fans.

It's very cute and the tone of the brown is beautiful but I don't like how the blades are so disproportionate compared to the motor. The blades are very skinny and they should really have put a gold line around the motor on those fans.
