Personally, I don't like the non-concealed screw version with the short switch housing. I prefer the tall switch housings for the non-concealed version, and the short housing on the Panama II. Aesthetically, it makes more sense to me.

It makes it easier to install the blades when you have a longer switch housing, IMO. The screwdriver Casa includes with their fans isn't always helpful.

They most likely hadn't thought of it... when Hunter started with concealed hardware in the 90s, they did it to Casablanca soon thereafter. Interesting, it seems like such a simple concept now. When Hunter switched to concealed, did they do it on all their models or just some initially?

I think that screwdriver they include is for putting in the screws on the canopy, I can't see its use beyond that, or why one would rather use a short driver anywhere else.

They say it includes "everything you need to install, including screwdriver".

While that's technically true, I don't see who in the right mind would want to install an entire fan with a 1 inch screwdriver!

I used a regular screwdriver on mine, and I didn't find it any more difficult than any other fan I've done. Although, now that I put a huge light kit on it, expanding the switch housing, it would probably be more annoying now than before.

I prefer to use the longest screwdrivers I have when installing blade arms to motors. Your hand is then way down and doesn't bump the switch housing with every turn, and the handle doesn't rub on the switch housing which can damage the finish. They most likely hadn't thought of it... when Hunter started with concealed hardware in the 90s, they did it to Casablanca soon thereafter. Interesting, it seems like such a simple concept now. When Hunter switched to concealed, did they do it on all their models or just some initially? It was a whole transitionary thing, so technically no, they didn't implement concealed on everything at once. They did however implement it on each new [applicable] model or new version of a model as time went on. I don't think concealed was ever really priority for any company, it just came about with time and tweaks to designs. I think it happened with Casablanca as more of their new models were introduced with that design feature. It just made sense to change the existing few models like the Ventura and Panama that were not using it already. Because Casablanca was using blade holders and housings that didn't show the screws previous to 2000, just to be clear.

As do I, trying to put on the blades with the screw driver they include would be unfathomable to me.
