<abbr></abbr>Although I do not entirely disagree, you must remember that Inteli-Touch controls have a proper on/off switch with literally disconnects all power from the the fan. What I often observe failing are low-end remote control receivers. I have worked with Hampton Bay fans that have been used for what appears to be approximately a week (possibly less) and yet the receiver is noticeably melted. That's true, I was thinking of mine, which does not have such off switch..
If something fails in a week, then it was either defective and/or not built properly..
Its also worth underscoring that controls like the Hampton Bay receivers (or really any for that matter) would ideally be operating after a surge protector, of which I don't think anyone installs on ceiling fans..
I've seen cases where out of the box the remote on the fan doesn't even work for 5 minutes. There was a Hampton Bay model that did this. Although the model name I can't think of at the moment, to no ones surprise it was a newer model. Another example of things being made cheap but yet cost more.

Yes it does. Which in this day and age it's not surprising. Like every company seems to do nowadays, lower the quality, raise the price. That would make sense given the fact it's in a summer home and is never used at any other time of the year. Not to mention the Inteli-touch is never turned off throughout that time.

So sorry for the bump, but I want to be clear with this:
Landmark I/II/III/Plus always have filigree sideband. 52" ones always come with 5 blades, even in 1986 when Hampton Bay started. If it has a plain sideband and 4 blades, it's a Windward I, or Renaissance if sideband is thick and blades are glossy.
52" Landmark I: Have GE vents, then Panama vents. I know some of GE vent Landmark have 4/5 blade motor, like the ones with arch end blades, and possibly ones made by Sheng Yuan according to catalog. 42" Landmark I: Have builder vents, then Panama vents, always have 4 blades. Some people think that 42" Landmark I with Panama vents are Landmark II, but I don't know where people get this.
Landmark II: Seems to only come in 42" and 5 blade, has some weird looking standard brackets that really has Quick Connect system. Also includes schoolhouse light kit. Again, the 4 blade Panama vent Landmark, is Landmark I, not II. Also, the Hampton Bay builder fan with 3 lights is Huntington I, not Landmark II, saying this because Huntington I got labeled as Landmark II in other site and that confused some people.
52" Landmark III/Plus: Basically latest Landmark I with 3 lights included. 42" Landmark III/Plus: Basically latest Landmark I, except with 5 blades instead of 4, and has 3 lights included.
