Bought it from a local picker that got it from an auction. Being a dealer and picker myself i recognized it as being something really unique. Im still a little new to the game but I haven't seen many antique fans so far, or maybe I wasnt looking hard enough. Anyway Im not sure if this is against the rules on here but I was going to inquire about the monetary value of this fan as well as its likely age. Unfortunately the bottom part is cracked and missing as you can see in the photo. Thanks for any info any of yall can provide Nick

You got yourself, probably.... the rarest Tuerk/Hunter there is. As far as I know Chuck Abernathy has one, Mark Neely "might" have one. And John Andrews has one at Texas Ceiling Fans. I believe Hunter also has one at the corporate headquarters. Other than that, I have no idea. So there's three known, maybe four.
Value? No clue, there's nothing to compare it to directly, but the type A usually goes around $800-1500 for one with blades running or not. Yours has damage, no blades, but I have also seen dozens and dozens of type A fans before. As far as age... we are talking 1890-1905ish approximate age, probably leaning more towards the 1890s-1900. John Andrews could tell you more. The Type C was the first Hunter to use a pancake style motor and I believe that came to be around 1903 or so.

That is awesome to hear, Thank you so much. Regardless of value its always a thrill to come across an extremely rare item like this. It only happens maybe once or twice a year when I find something super cool like this.

Are you going to have it restored?

No im going to sell it eventually. I really dont have the time to work on it or the place to put it currently and depending on its value it may be too expensive for my taste.Down the road I would want something with a similar look tho I wouldnt want to keep something so rare for myself.

If you're interested in a quicker sale, you could post it up on www.fancollectors.org, however, I myself would be interested in the motor, but I don't think I could afford it. I might could restore you something a bit more common in trade for this one, but I'm quite backed up in the shop as it is. I have two Century basket weaves, two C-17 and an R-52 all for customers. Oldest thing I have is a 1902-1905 Emerson CF-24 which was the "third" fan that Emerson made and the first fan ever made to use a standard blade bracket that attached with two screws as almost all fans use today. Before I could even contemplate your Tuerk I'd have to know if it will run.
