I did some deconstruction jobs last week (not officially with Habitat but some of the material I pulled I planned to donate to Habitat).
Y'all may remember last time I posted I had gone into an abandoned Burger King and removed 5 or 6 unknown Variable Speed fans. I recently confirmed those are made by Broan, not by Panasonic as was suggested.
Anyhow this time I had a new set of restaurants to clean out . . . me and my business partner were not going in their primarily to take the fans, we were more interested in the kitchen equipment and stainless steel . . . but of course I wouldnt leave without the fans . . . anyhow, the best find was from a quite fancy steakhouse from which I pulled 6 brown and brass Hunter Originals. Two are Robbins and Myers and in fairly good shape, the other four are Reversaire and absolutely MINT. They even kept them oiled, when I went up to take the first one down I got a pint of oil poured on me. Two of them have the rubber flywheel add-ons that I love.
Pictures are posted in the Yahoo Gallery. At this point I have no plans to sell them.

Dont make me tell the story about those worthess grease bomb Crapablanca Zephyrs I yanked out of a BK.

I had a similar encounter with Originals in BK except all had the rubber ring and were in use. Beautiful fans and were well maintained. I remember seeing 4 36"ers in one section of the restaurant too.

It's a shame to see things just get destroyed and thrown away when people are interested in them. There was a BK around here that had 7 Deltas, the recently were replaced with Hampton Bays or something, and I missed them. I wish I could have grabbed them.

Hold up there! You DO NOT want to pull fans out of a fast food joint. Dont make me tell the story about those worthess grease bomb Crapablanca Zephyrs I yanked out of a BK. The BK fans were in pretty bad shape as far as grease, but once disassembled (housings removed etc) they are pretty easy to clean. I havent yet tackled those Broan fans, they're still in plastic bags stashed away. And not all fast food fans are full of crap. There was another BK that had 6 Nutones in fine shape, however I missed them, this was many years ago. And the other restaurants, the non-fast food ones . . . the Originals were in INCREDIABLE shape, I also pulled some Craftmades in fairly good shape.
