Thats a pretty good idea really. never would have thought of that. the WD-40 will losen up any greese on the motor shaft (in most cases they put greese around it before putting the blades on) the WD-40 will loosen that up and the heat from the hair dryer should warm it up enough to where it will just slide off.

Sometimes I think they put Loctite or something similar on the screw that keeps it from moving. It's funny, I've had some set screws come out very easily, others I've just worked around as I could never seem to get them out. It's nice to be able to get the blade off and clean it properly, but sometimes it's just safer to work around it than risk damaging the blade or fan.

PB Plaster is what I try when all other penetrants fail. You might need to let it soak for a while.
