This is my 36" Emerson Heat Fan, I got this for $2 at a tag sale a few years back along with some other misc. electrical components. This is my oldest ceiling fan, and it was actually the first ceiling fan I ever bought. I was surprised to find this around here. It was all complete except for the switch cap, so I made one out of some sort of plastic food container, I can't remember what it went to, its been too long. The bearings in this unit seem a bit worn, if I ever come up with a place to give this a permanent install, I'd probably replace them. Is that something easily done in these fans? A video of it
The video is in HD, so if it doesn't load properly, just let it sit for a few minutes to buffer. Pictures, they are in no particular order due to lack of time:

LOVE IT! I'd try oiling the bearings before replacing them.

LOVE IT! I'd try oiling the bearings before replacing them. Thanks Dan! When I first got it, I sat the fan upside down and dripped some oil down the shaft, which seemed to have marginal effect. Is there a better way to go about doing that? Also, how does one oil the top bearing?

Granted this was before I had half a clue about ceiling fans, so I probably did it wrong. Is there a better way to go about doing that? Also, how does one oil the top bearing?

Very neat, and looks to be in great shape.. Video doesn't load, maybe saw the first 10 secs.. I oiled the bottom bearings of the junky one I recently found... I didn't take the motor / flywheel apart or anything, I just tipped the fan upside down and took my oil can with it's long thin sprout and put some in that way, in between the fly wheel and motor, let it run down, and sink into the bearings and put more.. The sprout on my oilier can go right into the hole where the bearings are / shaft comes out without having to take the switch housing / flywheel or anything off..

I'm not surprised about the video, the site I use to host them sucks. I'll have to figure out something better...I really don't want to go to YouTube as I don't want something public like that yet, but I'm getting closer and closer every time people can't watch the videos. In the time being until I figure that out, if you want to watch the video you'll have to download it. Under the bottom right of where the video is supposed to play, you will see "download with shared download manger" or something like that, uncheck that if it is selected, then click on the download button right below the video player on the bottom right. Will give you the video in MP4 format to play in Windows Media Player or whatever you have.
Also, apparently I did a double-post to Dan, could you delete one of those? I used to be able to delete posts myself, but seem to have lost that ability.
Thanks!

If you don't want to use youtube, another option is to use a file hosting site such as zippyshare or 4shared.. People will have to download the file to watch though...

You can download the videos off the site I am using now, but not having the online player at all may be a better option since it never works anyway and its not very clear how to download the video if you're not familiar with the site.

I wonder if it's possible to make a light kit for this...

I wonder if it's possible to make a light kit for this... No need to make one, they already exist. If you search for Emerson heat fans on YouTube, you will see plenty that have light kits. A regular light kit could probably be modified by drilling some holes to fit on to here though.

Most light kits will fit on there with no modification.
