According to YouTube statistics, there are about 198,000 videos for the search query "Ceiling fan". Of course, not all of these videos are done by fan collectors, licensed electricians or experienced lighting showrooms...so that leaves a great number of these videos that were done by "The average Joe". A lot of these videos are simple tutorials, some are by eager homeowners who just replaced their old fan, and a few are Ebay and Craigslist sellers.
I thought why not take a look at these videos? Maybe even "rate" the so to speak? So I've created three basic categories for these videos:
[/li]
[li]The bad - For example: a tutorial video showing wiring that isn't up to code, improperly installing a fan.
[/li]
[li]The ugly - For example: replacing a good quality fan with a "better" looking cheap one, painting an old fan to make it look "better".[/li][/ul]
Feel free to post any other additions to each category. After all, over 198,000 videos to choose from...

Of course, these views are subjective and up to interpretation, so what us fan collectors consider "Bad" or "Ugly", someone else might very well like.
Video one - The good. Unlike a lot of people who would just throw away a ceiling fan that has broken flywheel, this video shows that you can easily replace it yourself without having to get rid of the existing fan:
Video two - the bad. This video is just plain awful! There is no junction box in the ceiling, which is major violation of the Nation Electrical Code. Worse yet, this is supposed to be an instructional video for homeowners
