WARNING! LONG POST AHEAD!
Hey everyone. I'm starting this thread because I'm looking to find information on a specific childhood fan.
Here’s what I know:
The fan was manufactured by Heritage, sold under the name "Home Style" and distributed exclusively at Loblaws from around 2004-2005 and possibly later. My dad purchased one from Loblaws in the Summer of 2005 and installed it the master bedroom. We kept it for five years until re replaced it with a Mont Carlo Aledo hugger from Lowes (soon to be replaced with a Casablanca Panama or Delta II) and gave it to a friend. According to what my dad remembers, the fan was originally priced at around $89.00 and put on sale for half price. It was also apparently the most expensive model they carried out of the four or five models they sold. Here is a video of the fan I took before it was replaced in 2010. Keep in mind that this is an old video of mind, so professionalism really wasn't something I paid attention to at the time:
It doesn't here though. In 2011, (about two years after I recorded that video) I was searching for fans on Craigslist, and stumbled upon a different Home Style fan that was new in box. It was out of my area though, so I couldn't get it.
And two weeks ago (almost exactly nine-years after my dad bought and installed the Home Style fan that used to be in the master bedroom), a new in box Home Style fan came in at my local ReStore. It was the same model that I had seen on Craigslist back in 2011, except in pewter instead of white. Here is the box:
And of course, Français (French):
Inside:
Instructions in English et Français (and French):
Blades:
Blade bracket:
Canopy and mounting bracket:
Downrod. Yes, it did come like that!
Remote control kit:
Halogen bulb:
Motor:
Rust. Ain't it a wonderful thing?
Labels. Apparently, this one dates from 2004 unlike the one we used to have:
Light kit and glass. Yes, the scratch is from factory...
Fan assembly:
The fan fully assembled:
Defective globe...go figure!
And of course, a professional video:
And just last week, I was searching Las Vegas Craigslist to ad some links to a thread I posted and stumbled upon an ad for an electrician which used a stock photo of a Home Style Fan! Please excuse the poor picture quality:
What I’m looking to find out/acquire:
1. What other models of Home Style fans were there? According to my dad, there were about four of five.
2. Pictures. Even if it’s of models I’m already aware of.
3. What time period were these fans sold from? I can guess that they were sold from about 2004 to 2005 (just judging by the one we used to have and more recently, the one that got dropped of at my local ReStore) , but I’m not 100% sure.
Some things I should point out:
1. Home Style and Home Styles are NOT the same company, despite having nearly identical names. Although the two brands both sold ceiling fans, Home Styles chose both Caners and Heritage to manufacture their ceiling fan related products, unlike Home Style which only choose Heritage. Also, Home Styles was sold exclusively at Zellers while Home Style was exclusively sold at Loblaws.
2. I am fully aware that Home Style ceiling fans aren’t vintage or even remotely good quality. However, they still hold great sentimental value to me (especially the model that we used to have in the master bedroom).
3. If you have a Home Style fan that you are willing to sell at a reasonable price, I might be interested (particularly the model we used to have).
