Yes they are, very good fans. I'm looking for a Parlourfan (or of course World's Fair) otherwise I'd bid.

did they also make a 36 inch version? A friend of mine has two of these in his house, both white and antique brass. I think they're both 36 inches. they also both hum, but I think this is due to the wall controls, though they are solid-state. Both of his fans have 2 set speeds and then the third speed is governed by the variable speed control. Was this typical of these fans?

Are you talking about variable speed controls the wall controls or additional variable speed controls on fans? I believe variable speed Fascos used the same 'vari-lo' system as Nutones, where the pullchain switches between high-variable speed control-off. I'll have to ask Ryan Sipka to be sure.

I didn't know that "vari-lo" was the name of this system. Thanks. Also, do these fans hum on their own or is it the wall control causing that?

Most variable speed fans have a bit of a noticable hum to them and a solid state control makes that hum worse. Fans without variable speed controls tend to be a bit quiter. Although, that is not always the case.

There's no way to troubleshoot where the hum is coming from just by what you're telling me. Variable speed controls will almost always cause a spinner motor to buzz, in the case of a K55, if the windings varish has flaked off, then it will buzz jsut as well. It's also possible for a K55 motor to be completely silent with a variable speed control, so the buzz could be coming from somewhere else.
First, remove the wall controls. You dont want a variable speed control in more than one place in the circuit, if there's one on the fan you dont want one on the wall. See if that eliminates or reduces the buzz. From there, if it's still there, try bypassing the control in the fan. If the pullchain selects between "high" "variable speed" then simply setting the pullchain to high will take care of this. If you do deside to keep the wall controls, than leave the pullchain on high so it's out of the circuit.

As i said in an earlier post, the two fans are in the house of a friend of mine. I don't think his grandfather would appreciate me taking the controls of the wall. But, I have tried it with the fan on high and the wall-control(solid-state, not variable speed, on its highest setting.) The hum is more of a dull hum, not a buzz. I think its the wall contol causing it, but can't be sure.
