Since my video of repairing the Key Largos has proved to be one of my most popular videos (definitely in $$$ if not in views) I decided to try something new. Normally I dont like to present my installations until they are finished-- so you can see a complete work of art as I want it to be seen! In this case, I am in the process of installing 9 fans in the lower level. In this video, 7 of them are partially installed and I experiment with speed controls. There is also lots of other work to be done on the lower level. Special thanks to Richard Moss, Andrew Gould, Zachary Yarnes, Andy W and Eric H who have helped with time and materials. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQldEDZc5Hc

Switch housingless CC looks more proportionate than other fans this has been done to, but why remove the controls? Is everything going to be rheostatted up? Either way I think it looks better in its original condition.
You can definitely hear the "K55 Whistle" that seems to be common with this particular family of fans in the video.
What is the one without the light kit that you have the camera fixed on toward the end of the video?

Everything is going to be on 4 speed wall controls. The pullchains hang down too low to keep them.
There is a little bit of noise with them all on high but it's not bad at all. I doubt it will be noticeable once the room is finished.
There are 3 fans without light kits-- a plain CC, an ornate CC, and an ornate Lasko. Not sure which one you're referring to, probably the plain CC.

I believe it was the ornate CC.
Wasn't complaining about the noise, just pointing out the characteristic "whistle" some of these K55 Emersons have (especially noticeable with the 40" Sears ones; it seems to come from your ornate CC in the video). I kind of like it!

I think it's something reverberating through the metal housings. The plastic Designers are usually silent.

Do the Sears fans have a metal or a plastic motor housing? That's where I've heard most of them. We had them at my old house but we moved out of it long before I actually started tinkering with fans, and we never got them into Habitat when I was there. I know the switch housing is plastic.

I have decided I love every single fan in this installation except the Lasko over where the stage will be (sans light). It doesnt look as "right" as the Lasko near the kitchenette with a light, or the rest of the fans.
Since it will be over the stage I need something with a slimmer profile, hence the Lasko. The only plain fan is the center fan, the rest are supposed to be ornate.
Only thing I can think of that fits these qualifications is an ornate 1895 (brown). I dont have one. Any other suggestions, or keep the Lasko?
