Multiple Fan Display Series: Spirit of the Union

its been a long time since i didnt make a date store fans video (or currently known as multiple fan display) but finally i got this great episode done!

this episode features 9 of my union fans operating in the date store building as a celebration of the 42nd national day in the UAE!

4 unions have been mentioned in this forums somewhere in february-march 2012 or maybe one month after which were the ABC, UEC, AMC and the 36" ABC

the other 5 unions are:

ABC 56" (ringless)

this fan was obtained last year in march along with another ABC which i mentioned earlier, this the one with the damaged motor and winding.. with its new winding, the motor works really well, stronger but slightly slower and it rubs against the rotor







Union (70s)

this was one of the 13 fans obtained in the demolition haul back in july







Union KMJ (70s)

one of the fans obtained from the scrapyards, upper canopy is taken from another union in the scrapyard, blades are also spares

also obtained from the scrapyards.. these are the latest of union fans i have in the collection, it is dated march 1984, this fan apparently had a ABC label placed over its union label, the other 3 i already have didnt have a union label under the ABC label, unlike the older models, these have metallic canopies.. they also spin slower the the older models, its almost the same speed as a relite fan on full.. blades, downrod and canopies are assigned spares






Union AMC with a nut

found it in the scrapyard, this fan is originally without the nut, the nut came from another AMC that turned out to have its windings damaged, since i got this, replaced the motor casings, i have literally obtaing a working AMC with a nut at the bottom!

I don't think I've ever seen this motor sized and metal blade combination with that ring around the bottom part of the motor.. Seems odd that some of them have it and some don't.. I love these with the nut...

here, all the older ones have a ring at the bottom.. the newer ones have no ring.. here also, the earliest and latest models have metallic canopies, all the models in between have plastic canopies

I've never seen the slim 1984 version before.

Was it the first time you find one of these with an actual Union sticker?

All of them except the 1984 model have plastic canopies? Here the equivalent of theses imported by Canarm looks exactly like the fan on the 4th-5th picture except they always have metal canopies. I might have seen some version without the ring exactly like the fan on the 1st picture except they always have metal canopies.

My four blade brown Evergo is pretty much like the AMC with the nut you found but one difference that is more difficult to notice is that mine doesn't have the screws showing on the bottom and the canopies are metal.

You transplant the windings of one of the working models without a nut into the shell of the the model that has a nut and damaged winding?

actually it was my second time seeing one with the union sticker, the first one was in the scrapyard and it was in an extremely bad condition and not worth for restoration

yes, all of them have plastic canopies except the 1984 model.. i also got one very early ABC with a pointed motor that had metallic canopies.. i was about to feature it but due to some wiring mistakes, i had to pull it off

i only switched the lower motor shell, everything else is still the same

I'm suprised theses plastic canopies are all original to theses fans. I never saw theses fans with plastic canopies before.

That's very clever what you did about the lower sell of the motor. Theses motors are very difficult to open.
