Well having this rather uncommon fan gathering dust in my basement with a bad slumber quiet system and no blades isn't going to do it for me, so I gave it a new life. I transferred a 3 speed system from one of the motors that I bought off of Matt C. Since my Antique Brass FS has a shot motor (low speed doesn't work on any IT board I tried in it) and has no hanging hardware I decided to sacrifice the brackets and the light kit for this fan. I wire-wheeled off the finish with a bench grinder and sanded them a bit to give it a brushed look and i shot a coat of clear on them to protect the bare metal. However the resulting finish was too light and looked more like brushed nickel. So I looked for a transparent black spray paint to darken the finish a bit to match better. I bought a little 3 oz bottle off of ebay and the end result is a hue darker then the factory finish, but close enough for me.

I bet we can fix the AB motor. Sounds like bearings.

Bearings are fine, no matter what IT board I've had in it (I made sure they worked properly by using them on other fans) the lowest speed would not stay on after releasing the fan button on the IT control. It would start with that little "boost" to get it to speed but would coast to a stop afterward. The other 5 speeds held normally.

My first PB Four Seasons IT that does that exact same thing. Bearings are fine in mine too, I replaced them myself.

Sounds like a good candidate for a conversion to 1/3 speed!

But it has to be the motor causing that issue though. I've tried it with the original IT board with the LDM in the switch housing and the newer one with the LDM in the motor housing, they acted the same. The AB one is now just a motor without any electronics in it. I've used the blades/brackets on this fan.

The motor only has three components . . . the windings/stator, the capacitor, and the bearings. If the stator was bad, you would know. The capacitor is on the IT board.

true, I wonder what was causing the issue though.
