After a couple of years I see Sears stopped selling them all together. Did any buy any of their fans and if so which did you buy.

A lot of department stores stopped selling fans. Shopko, Kohls, Boston Store, etc all used to sell fans. To be honest, I havent been to Sears in a while, the only thing I buy there is tools, and I'm long overdue for a new set of tools.
But Sears stopped selling cool fans when they stopped their catalog. I suppose their profits have been down and so they're downsizing. Everyone except Wal-Mart and Target seem to be doing the same.
Sears used to sell really good fans. In the 70s and 80s it was Emersons and Laskos, they also sold a number of import fans starting in the late 80s and added Hunter to their lineup. I would love to still have some of the old Sears catalogs (from the 80s) I had as a child.

Really? To me I don't they should've done that because a lot of people need to buy ceiling fans and store like, Sears, Kohls Target, etc should'nt had stopped selling them. Plus I agree with you about sears used to sell good fans in the 70's, 80's and I think they did in the 90's,too. I used to have some of the sears catalogs and I just go to ceiling fan section and look there for hours. ;D Man it's really unfair now that most stores had stopped selling ceiling fans and only places you can alot of them is at Home Depot and Lowe's

And also most of the major showrooms are downsizing or closing down. These companies werent making enough profit from fans compared to other products, meanwhile people how many many cheap designer fans to chose from at the large building centers. Sears mainly sold Litex in the 90s, from my recollection. I dont particularly care for them, but, for import builder fans, they werent bad.

the newer sears fans suck. It was inly in the 70's and 80's when they actually made good fans. Sears also sold aloha fans.

It was a marketing decision to stopped selling fans. The two main reason were Home Depot and Lowe's.
Back in 1992 they decided to stop printing their annual catalogs., they had some cool fans in the stores, mostly from Madison Avenue, Aloha, and Litex., they also sold some Hunters.
I'd Bought one, a Madison Avenue named "Vienna Lights" is 24Kt. Gold-like {not brass} with Lucite., the motor housing and light kit are sort of branches made of Lucite and Gold leafs, it also has 8-long leafs vines on the top surrounding the downrod., the blades are Lucite and the blade arms leafs., it's very pretty.
