I just came back from California and let me just say that the people out there still have respect for and get FULL use of ceiling fans where I was at. Fans are anywhere and everywhere out there. The Hotel Del Coronado has about 700 rooms and literally HUNDREDS if not, over one thousand ceiling fans. There is at least one ceiling fan per room and most have anywhere between three and six fans in addition to all of the ceiling fans they have in the on-site shops, restaurants and common areas of the hotel. The day I landed, I went to my aunt's house first before I could check into the hotel, so I'll start off with pics from her house. Please excuse the quality of the pics because I took them with my phone and it was really hard to zoom in most areas with people around. Plus, I suck at cropping and editing them. I need some help identifying a few of them.
Hunter Waldon 5-Minute Fans at my Aunt's, the one made a clicking noise the whole time I was there:
Another one in the master bedroom in the top right corner:
Slumber Quiet Victorian in a deli at Seaport Village, there were two of these on really long downrods like 96":
These fans were at the first room I stayed in, they're all on Leviton speed controls;
Two Hunter outdoor fans on the porch, not sure of the model:
Two Hunter Savoys inside the room:
Unknown outdoor fan in my cabana at the pool, there was one of these in each of the seven cabanas at the pool:
There were four fans behind the main lobby check-in counter all in antique brass; two of the same fans that I'm not sure of the model, maybe Minka or Monte Carlo, one 5-bladed Delta II, and one 5-Bladed Zephyr. They were all controlled by pull-chain and they were all on different speeds every day:
One gift shop had three different fans in it, these pics are hard to see;
Bronze Archive Original on high:
Another one of those Minka or Monte Carlo things again on high, no light this time:
4-bladed Zephyr on medium with two pull-chains, but no light..weird because there was a reverse switch as well:
Bad pic, but Hunter Sea Air in a women's store on high on a 12" downrod, it was in a weird spot like the corner of the store:
42" Emersons? Help me lol, these were in a jewelry store on low:
Harbor Breeze Tilghman in a clothing store turned off:
Emerson Crowns, there were around 36 of these total in this one restaurant at the hotel; about 8 in antique brass around the bar and the rest of them in white. There was a long row of about 14 tables running parallel with another row of 14 tables and each table had a white Crown above it. I did the best I could with the pics, they're not great:
Some old generic hugger in a gift shop on low:
This next set of pics was taken in 2nd part of the hotel that I stayed in, the Beach Village. This was basically a two-story condo with three white Hunter Savoys all on Leviton controls;
Living Room/Kitchen:
1st floor bedroom:
2nd floor bedroom:
Bronze Hunter Archive Original in another gift shop, there were four of these all on high:
And last but not least, 3 Hunter 1886s all on medium in another gift shop:
There are a TON of fans that I didn't have a chance to get pictures of including Originals everywhere. I saw 3 white Emerson Apollos in a cafe; one was running fine on high, another was running on medium with a bent flywheel, and the other one's flywheel was completely shot and dropped to the switch housing. There were so many fans that I can't really remember what I left out.
If anybody is thinking of ever visiting Southern California, I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Del Coronado. They have a huge variety of rooms to fit most people's price ranges and they're all beautiful. This place is hellbent on quality and cleanliness which is why a good percentage of the materials around the hotel are original. After this trip, I love California!
