We are looking for information about our Homestead Ceiling Fan. The only information we've been able to find is that it's rare. Below is a picture of what ours looks like.

What do you wish to know about it? The Budweiser fan is a very uncommon model, but very high quality. Homestead was big in the 80s and early 90s, some of the best-quality fans to hit the market, right up there with Casablanca and Hunter to name the better-known brands. That's just some of the general info, if you have more specific questions on the fan itself someone here will probably be able to answer them.

If you found the right person, you might get a good $200 out of it, but that's honestly not very likely. For most people I wouldn't say much more than $150. You kinda have two markets, the Budweiser enthusiasts and the fan enthusiasts, and I don't think either would look to pay huge money for it on a regular basis. While it is a desirable fan in the collector's circles, there are not many of us who pay a lot of money to get fans on a regular basis.
You could try to sell it on here, but then the value will probably drop more to around $100 as many collectors won't pay huge dollars. eBay is your best bet for profit. If you start an auction at something like $100 or even slightly lower if you were comfortable, you could possibly get multiple bids to drive the price up. Of course that's not a guarantee and the fan market has been rough lately, Homestead doesn't really do very well on eBay in the first place. I hope it's not overly discouraging, used ceiling fans just aren't really a major market for anyone even if they are desirable. The Hunter Original is about the only fan that does retain a high resale value.

I think even those prices are optimistic. In a better economy they might be expected, but I know of only two fan collectors who want this fan and would pay for it, That's Matt Cody and Perrey, and they both already have one. I have no idea what the Bud collectors would pay.
USUALLY for eBay auctions, you get the most for your item when you start the bidding at $9.99 with no reserve and let people fight for it, but there are exceptions. USUALLY when you start the bidding higher, say $99.99, less people bid.
If you want to see what the market will dictate, and it MAY be a lot or it may not, start the bidding low. Otherwise I'd go with Cole's numbers, do a $200 BIN or best offer, and then accept a lower offer if no one bites at the $200.

I kinda want one, this is why I gave some optimistic numbers from the perspective of someone who is moderately looking for one. I wouldn't pay $150, but I might pay $75 on a regular day and maybe $100 to have such an uncommon fan. If it goes to eBay with a low starting you can definitely be looking for me to place a bid.

If you want a low-hassle deal with no eBay fees, I would just accept Cole's offer. Cole is about as honest as it's possible to deal with. You MIGHT make more on eBay, but then you have eBay fees, and the potential of dealing with horrible buyers.

There are lots of people here that can give you advice on packing a fan. This thread is a good place to start: ada19851985.proboards.com/thread/3054For that one, I'm almost positive a 14x14x14 box will be big enough (unless the downrod itself is longer than 14" or won't at least lay diagonally in the box). I can usually pack any fan with bubble wrap, packaging tape, Ziploc bags, rubber bands, and if I don't have newspaper, the brown painter's paper from Home Depot (I've found that this is the best buy... while Walmart has the cheapest bubble wrap and tape, they will charge you out the wazoo for packing paper). With all this, I pack it similarly to the instructions in the above link.

I would NEVER ship a fan with the downrod attached. You're asking for damage.
Where are you located?

I never said I would ship a fan with the downrod attached. By diagonally I meant laying it across the top, diagonally, if it's longer than 14" (the whole a2+b2=c2 thing). As long as it's shorter than 19" you should be good.
EDIT: I see you weren't talking to me...

Attached downrods are definitely a no-no. Never have shipped a fan with it attached, gotten a few damaged from it though.

We're in Wisconsin. But we're not sure what we're going to do with it yet but if we decided to sell it Cole S. you will be one of the first to know. Thank you all for your input, it's been very helpful.
