Well I made the trip down to Schlitterbahn for the first time since I was in high school today. As I've posted before, it used to be chock full of vintage fans. Well along with a complete overhaul of the place (lots of rides have been added, taken out, or rearranged in some manner), ALL of the vintage ceiling fans are long gone and replaced by either HB industrials or Silverlines. I will say that they have added a few fans (including 36" Silverlines above the park side of the main entrance and various outdoor fans in the tiki hut picnic areas in the newer part of the park), but the following are now history:
Men's bathroom, lowest level of main locker room: Used to have two Mega Fan-looking things, now has one brown (painted?) 36" Silverline.
Highest level of main locker room building: Used to have at least one white (and I think AB) Original with cane blades, and probably more; now has several of those crappy 36" 5-blade Hampton Bay things with the double oval brackets. There also used to be a snack bar at the end of this building with what I think was a 42" Antica with mangled blades; the snack bar has been replaced by some sort of shop or staff area with the original entrance now closed off, and the fan has been replaced by a 60" HB industrial in a cage.
The arcade attached to the pizza parlor used to have a mix of antique brass and bright brass Emperors; now has a completely random mixture of 56" Silverlines, 36" Silverlines, and HB industrials, as well as one 52" Hampton Bay Gazebo placed somewhat randomly and a black Hunter outdoor fan above the prize area. They also added Silverlines above the line where you actually buy the pizza, but these were all off and their blades were beat up.
If you haven't been in a few years it's definitely worth checking out all the changes to the park... they removed the original four "Castle Slides" but added a new section, retooled the original Dragon Blaster into "Dragon's Revenge", and I think made several of the tube chutes longer. Just don't go expecting to fan-hunt... but then again, is that really the purpose in going?
