Hey all! I just joined this site and I must say, Im very impressed! My story of the day was finding a beautiful, minty 36" Hunter original with a bright brass finish. It has a swag kit and is equipped with a Hunter certified globe. The blades have cane inserts and the motor has the directions for oiling. The neat thing is this fan is in Hunter Division Robbins & Myers. The retail on it was $139.99. Since it had been there for years, It was sold to me for 65 bucks. Did I do good? The fan needs oil and I wanna know how to tear it down and put it together again. Brian, this is where you come in Can anyone help me out? How did i do? whats it worth? lol Thanks again Trevor

Welcome to the site, Trevor. $65 is certainly not a bad price for a Hunter Original, and I think the majority of us love brass and cane And I see you've done your research. Brian Hicks is definitely your man for helping you tear the thing apart and oil it-- althought if it's brand new or still relatively unused you might not need to tear it apart-- but I suggest you give Brian a call Dont forget to check out the corresponding Yahoo Group. groups.yahoo.com/group/vintageceilingfans/

Hey all!
Thanks for the help! The 36" Original is new old stock I guess you'd say. The fan was hung up for sale and display when the store was opened. The fan was never oiled or run so the bearings are perfect. The blades are great and the only dust on them was settled dust from being there so long! The light kit is new to me because it has a different arrangement than most globe kits. This one has the switch where the bulb goes in and the chain runs through the outside. Most globe kits I've seen have a "snail" switch on the side. As far hanging hardware, the fan needs the rubber knob that you put in the U bolt. It also needs a much shorter pipe and hangar. I think someone was in a hurry to hang this. lol ah, cant be perfect. Still a really cool fan!!!
