Rare TAT/Mistralaire ceiling fans that were remov

I have posted this thread elsewhere as well and I am now posting here.


For many Years A travel agent in Armidale nsw had these Mistralaire TAT fans...



There were 3 TATs towards the front of the travel agency, and 2 brown wattmaster/SMCs at the back

Here is a picture of the controllers...



Here is the annoying part, One day I walked past and noticed they had replaced the fans with these modern silver ones



And thought that that was a shame and I wished I could have acquired them, but then I walked further along the arcade and found them all left on the floor here



Unfortunately I would be too easily seen picking one up and taking it, so I went to a nearby cafe to get some chips. I then went back down the arcade to see if they were still there and found the shop had closed and some of the travel agents closing the shop, The fans were gone, But I asked the man if I could have one, but He said "sorry mate, they've all been loaded onto the back of a big truck to go somewhere else".


About 5 mins later I walked past a ute with the fans loaded onto it. I would have taken them then but there were some people leaning against the ute, talking. That was the last I ever saw of those fans.

I have since looked at the dump and 3 second hand shops for the fans, but to no avail, I will keep on looking.

I've seen the same thing happen to me. Sorry about that!

Love that photo. I also love the window-mounted exhaust fan - would love to find one, but new ones here (USA) are really expensive (like $800+) and old ones are usually, like the ceiling fans in the travel agency, "not going anywhere/not for sale" until the one day that they're suddenly gone.

What happened to me? A restaurant had my contact info re: if they ever replaced their fans. I never got a call. Nine PV Casablanca Victorians and a PB Casablanca Columbia II ended up in the dumpster and were gone before I knew. And getting the Columbia II was important, because it was the ONLY fan another collector wanted for which he'd trade me my dream fan, a Casablanca Broadway Limited.

Another restaurant in the chain still has a Columbia II, but the manager won't talk to me about it, says I have to call corporate... and corporate has no idea what to tell me except "talk to the manager."

Some places LOVE to give you the runaround. I tried to get some of the white Hunter Classic Originals my local Super Fresh supermarket had but I was too late. They said the demo was left up to the owner of the property, and that they were just renting. If I would've contacted the owner of the property, he or she probably would have told me to contact Super Fresh.

Man have I had the runaround a few times. Was supposed to get those old Canarms out of the JC Penney hair salon, quit checking the dumpster because the electrician was saving them, but they got dumped anyways.

THESE STORIES MAKE ME UPSET!!!!! THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL....UGH!!!
