Got a black and brass R&M that's about to hit eBay as soon as I get it touched up. Wondering what the best paint to use might be?

Any flat black would do, just don't use spray paint. For the brass I would use spray paint as long as you remove those parts off the fan first.

Thanks. I'm not going to touch the brass finish. There are a couple of scratches on the brackets and some blemishes around the edge of the faceplate that are barely noticeable (if at all) when the fan is installed.

Yeah the blades are newer than the motor. Those blades would be off a post 1984 model where the motor is from 1979. The all black one would be from August, 1981 but I think you know that already.

I was wondering that, but I was never one of the ones that learned how to date the old Originals. When I uploaded the picture I noticed some I had uploaded a few years ago with this motor, some C brackets, and standard pecan blades (which I just shipped off with a Reversaire to which I didn't have the blades - I think one of them broke). Since I found some extra C brackets today (the ones I used on this fan - they have a circle embossed on them) I now wonder if this was a complete fan I got somewhere besides TCF, and if so, if I ended up doing something with the other motor I got from them. I have all my fans at my house, and don't ever remember taking any Originals to Habitat. When I sell the fan I may just use the C-brackets and take the blades from an incomplete Low Profile Original I have lying around. They're a little darker than the standard issue pecan, but they're in better shape than these blades.

You just read the date code backwards on old originals. My original says 1830 so it's march of 1981. This one is 1880 so yours is August of 1981. The blade arms don't look it though.
