I just acquired a Hampton Bay Princeton (1st gen) from somebody I know as he was replacing it with a Cheshire. Reason being is that the Princeton needed a new pull chain unit since its original one got yanked out. It has 2 capacitors 1.75 and 2.75.
When I plugged the fan in to test it out, the motor would not rotate and I tried reversing the fan, but no luck.
Anyway, what could be the problem?

Assuming the fan doesn't at least hum, try replacing the switch. Maybe it's in the off position?
If it does hum, possibly an issue with the caps?

Yeah, definitely listen for a hum. If there's no hum, there's probably no power going to the motor - could be a switch or wiring issue as Daniel mentioned.

I think I do need to add a new reverse switch, but I need one with purple and orange wires. Those are hard to find.
