On my way to school this morning, I passed a house with a rather large pile of junk on the curb. A table, toilet, dishwasher and other junk. But on top of the table were two ceiling fans! A 52" Bahama 6-blade Homestead look-a-like and a 36" white SMC? spinner! Pics will follow soon!

I've uploaded the photos on teh Vintageceilingfans group. They are the last two in the Unknown gallery. The 36" is NOT an SMC, but a copy of it. It has no SMC identification it, but it shares a similar switch housing. As for the Bahama, its not an Encon like most other Bahama fans. I ripped down the Mainstays and stuck it up in its place. Its a very quiet fan! I also added a closeup of the motor in the files section.

I have a Bahama Fan Gallery I'll be adding to the Yahoo Group when I get a chance. And the other fan is a CEC, I'll be adding a CEC Gallery too. I wonder, was that "Homestead" on eBay with the ornate sideband really a Bahama? It had the Homestead-style brackets, though, not the pretzels.

Hey Matthew, It so appears that I have the brown version of the white CEC fan..I, too, inevitably thought it was an SMC, but recently found that it was not..Believe it or not, that fan was my first fan. It's still hanging in my basement to this day. I don't see too many of that style here in the Pittsburgh area these days.

We get these in ALL the time at Habitat, there are two or three there right now . . . and I have a NIB brown one stashed away somewhere . . . I used to see them in the KMart ads and love them, but once I got one the excitement faded, as with many fans. CEC had some interesting fans but most werent very good quality.

As I recall, the very CEC that I have did come from K-Mart circa 1985, I think. I would love to acquire its white twin, eventually

Dont want to pop anyones bubble, but CEC should stand for "Crappy Electric Company". The one I had was JUNK! It was loud and didnt move much air.
