I'm not sure If I mentioned these 2 fans on here before but I own 2 1981 Hunter Olde Tyme Originals that both needs restoration.
First off is this model 22372 Brown/Brass Original. I found the blades and blade brackets lying on a shelf Being that it was my First Reverse-aire blades I decided to pick them up. I paid only $4 for them. I asked an employee where the motors were since there was none on the shelves, they were outside in a bin. I wanted a motor I can use the bearings out of and the guy just said you can have any motor you can find for free. So I looked out there and I did find the motor. The brass parts were painted black and there was some surface rust on the motor housing. So it leads me that this fan spent some of its life outside. But it ran nice still so It was a great candidate for a restore. I sent the blades to a collector for restoration but I still haven't gotten those back yet.
Here is what the fan looked like. It came with a 12" downrod and it only had the Hanging bracket. I do have the switch cap too.
2nd fan is a 22452 Original, I got this from my Habitat restore for $20
The fan is mostly complete missing some screws. The motor is painted green. Fortunately the tag and faceplace were left alone. This unit was originally Black/Antique brass. The interesting part is that the orignal owner bought a Bl/Ab motor and white blades. The blades were painted so the blades could've been wood-tone.
Here is the fan:
Today I bought a few cans of paint, 2 leather brown for the 22372 and Almond for the 22452.
Here are the fans taken apart:
I did get the black paint off of the faceplate on the 22372, I still need to do the arms.
Today I painted the 22372 and I am pretty happy with the results!
Tomorrow I will re assemble the 22372 and Paint the 22452.
