Looks to me, from the switch housing, that it is oil-bath. Is it?

No, but it does look that way. I had two. And the Sea Island fan is the Verandah look-a-like I had in my old gallery. Dan has one in his group, its the Polished Brass one with the big Lasko hugger canopy and 5-lights.

The Hacienda is a Hunter Original copy with a chunky spinner motor.

You've got "chunky spinner motor" right, Dan! I just bought one and put it up. It's the same as the one in your Yahoo! group, with the brown crinkle finish, but this one has 52 in. blades and a Palm Aire-style flush mount canopy. I have a question, however. It has two speeds, and on high it only goes as fast as any normal 52 in. fan would on low. Is this normal for an old Hacienda?

Interesting how Nutone made the same model fan, some with 3 speeds, some with two. I ran into a 2 speed Sea Island once, even though Sea Islands supposedly have three. And when you say "Palm-Aire style canopy" you mena exactly like that, or a low-profile kit?

When I say "Palm Aire style" canopy, I mean it looks exactly like it. The thing is 10 in. in diameter! I don't know if it was a kit or if it was original, because it has the coupling on the top of the motor with a pin going through it that looks to be where someone could have mounted a downrod. The cotter key in the pin doesn't look like it's ever been tampered with. (Did I actually go anywhere with this? Can you understand the point I'm trying to make?)

I had a Hosienda with the same canopy. It was a dealer option.

I dont believe I've ever seen this option, I have seen their close to ceiling kit. But I love those style of canopies.
