i put this in the lighting section, because the fixtures are supposedly from the 80s, and by the way, there is a measure in may that may decide the fate of the building, the school district is asking for money to redo most of the buildings, and if it passes, this building gets torn down, i may go for some of the fixtures if it passes

Are you sure the lights are from the 80s? The ceiling tiles look more 50s/60s to me...I suppose the original lights may have been replaced in the 80s though.

thats already happened here. Most schools over 35 years old were either remodeled or torn down. Torn down in most cases due to smaller class sizes and buildings not up to code. Both my middle and high schools added a new building when I attended them. 8 years ago both schools got modernized leaving the newer buildings than building around them and connecting them to the new buildings. I think there is about three old schools left here, and they are still up due to the fact the Government running out of money. It all was a waste of money in my opinion. They should have just maintained the old schools..

The school looks to be a historical building, and the light fixtures were replaced with fluorescents in the 1980s.

I know of only two public schools down here that are over 20 years old and still in use, i dont see them getting replaced anytime soon either due to lack of funding thanks to that piece of sh*t governor florida currently has.

In reality, we've got funding for new schools, but even despite that we have a building that is over 100 years old still in use. Remodeling and additions have taken place over the years of course (most recently partially remodeled in the past few years), but it's amazing the building is even still there at this point considering all the changes our district has made in the last ten years.
I find all the rebuilding of schools crazy, up here we've maintained older buildings quite well, the few newest schools in the district were built to ease overcrowding, not to replace existing buildings.

Here, most schools built before the 1980s have been replaced.. One middle school that I attended had a BIG addition built on to it in 1983 seeing how the school was built in the 1930s. Each classroom of that part of the school had two NuTone Verandah Deluxe ceiling fans, like the white one in the galleries.. Back in 1997 that middle school had a shooting that took place on the sidewalk in front of school, one student shot and killed another student over a watch. It made international news and was constant local news here for weeks, due to that fact back in those times it was more shocking for something like this to happen.. I bet someone on here may have heard of this.. Needless to say, that school has been replaced including the buildings that were built in the 80s.. Most other schools have been replaced, and look very commercial.. There are 2 or 3 1960s built schools that are still around, and those are scheduled to be replaced within the next few years..
