Ok here goes. When I was little I had a ceiling fan in my bedroom that I LOVED. I know for a fact it was an emperor. I'm trying to figure out which company though. It was a hugger, however the motor cover looked exactly like an emperor that sits on a downrod. It definitely was a hugger. The motor cover and arms were all more like a light, polished brass color, almost light gold, rather than a dark brass. Also, the arms were the "3 spike fork" style arms. Can anyone possibly figure this out? LOL

I can also tell you it was installed in 1990 for sure.

Might be a Hampton Bay Genoa. The finish your talking about is polished brass - Zachary's SMC Emperor in the video is antique brass. Here's a polished brass Genoa. Some had the downrod option, but I think they were also made as huggers. Here's a downrod version I saw on Photobucket:

There's also just the plain SMC Emperor hugger, I've got videos on Youtube if you look it up. Mine have the "heart" brackets, but I believe they were also offered with the blade arms that Zachary's fan has.

I believe Hampton Bay had hugger versions out in the late 80's early 90's. I also believe I've seen S.M.C. labeled ones as well, probably lying around a Habitat if my memory serves me correctly. The SMCs are most likely from 1986-87 and up..
Should this be under "Please Identify This Ceiling Fan"?

Sounds like a HB Genoa or S.M.C. Emperor. Those were the common fan. Adam, you are correct on the topic.

I would keep checking your local Habitat, or any other good sources for ceiling fans in your location... One is bound to pop up eventually..

Definitely...maybe I can even get lucky and go to the house one day and check it out. Hopefully it's still there. It was in very good shape and worked well. I definitely am getting a few emperors and putting them up in my house though

By the way guys...lol as I said I'm new to the forum, what exactly is a Habitat? I'm In Boynton Beach, Florida. Does anyone know if one of these places is nearby? It's funny, I just realized something last night. My best friend back in Jersey has 2 emperors in his house, both SMC downrod mounted! I could've just asked him to send me pictures of them haha.

The full name for what we call "Habitat" is usually the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. If you go to the Habitat for Humanity website, you can look up ReStores near you, if there isn't one just right in town. It's a great program, all sorts of building supplies (new and used) that would normally be thrown away get donated, and proceeds from the store go to Habitat for Humanity. ;D Here's the page for Florida locations of the ReStores: www.habitat.org/cd/env/restore_detail.aspx?place=88
