While I was preparing a fan for a new silk screen design to be applied on the some-what deteriorated aluminum ornate plate on the body stand, I accidentally let one drop of rubbing alcohol over the colored part of the ornate plate and I wipe it off with my fingers only to have some of the paint wiped off with it. BIG mistake! Now I have to do the whole design.
My advice; If you are going to clean the body of the fan with alcohol, avoid letting any of it fall in the ornate plate as that will eat the soft paint in it. If you have skills and the materials to make a new decorative mask to be applied with heat (silk screen) on the aluminum plate do so then seal it with shrink wrap. if you don't, just be careful or you'll ruin your portable fans.
