Why do you want to trade a good fan for a crappy fan?

Why do you want to trade a good fan for a crappy fan? Maybe because he likes the crappy fan. If you like something it doesn't really matter if it's crappy, it's just what you like.

Why do you want to trade a good fan for a crappy fan? I wouldnt consider the lakewood a good fan. These lakewoods had some of the weakest necks in fan history and majority of them broke. This meant once the fan's neck broke, the owner threw it out hence why you dont seem them as often as a brown bladed galaxy. Also they were 99% plastic, the remaining 1% is the metal motor. The guards were made from plastic which were pretty fragile and most of the time they broke. Also the fan isnt the quietest fan out there, actually its pretty loud for an 80's fan. The fan is also a pain to take apart, i.e the blade, which is held on by a crimp. This makes the fan more difficult to clean than most if not all 12"/16" fans from the 80's. Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree here. I own a Lakewood 1200 (blue blades) and it is loud. Although mine is intact, it isn't the best fan. Hard to clean, the blade was really hard to get off, the motor can't be taken apart and the fan is all plastic. Mine has bad bearings by the look of it and I can't really do anything about it. You are probably better off with something like a Panasonic with the metal handle. They may be plastic but they are at least half-way decent. They are also very easy to make your own oil ports. I did that with all of mine except for the one with the timer. But then again, if it is what you truly want, then that would be your choice. Good luck with the trade though.

Oh, that thing. Yes, I had one but I was young and didn't know how to repair fans yet and it broke so my parents threw it out. They're probably DeLonghi made.

I have three different 1200 and a 900 and two of the 1200 have never been properly cleaned because I cannot remove the blades without causing damage to it or the rear guards. The neck is a major flaw for these fans. When they were available they came fully assemble to prevent any premature damage done by the owners during assembly.
