Very cool place, very strange styling though. I've never seen a school done quite like that before. They've got massive amounts of those lights in there!
Some of those floors are eerily clean for how much stuff is missing from the ceiling... Kinda creepy.

Hah.. I remember these lights. My elementary school had the same basic design, only they were flush to the ceiling. There were both 2 and 4-bulb varieties.

Ya each fixture is 8 feet like my publix fixtures. but they have two actual four feet type fixtures in each. I've mostly seen them flush to the ceiling as well, I've see them even without the sidings before too which i always thought was neat to. Every school i went to had them, most gone, but some old style schools still exists around here, So i'm sure they are still installed in them..
They go really well in these pics of this haunted looking abandoned school

Well yes the photos were touched up with photoshop, but still I'm sure this school is very creepy looking to be there in person... Sorta reminds me of that school in the movie "Kindergarten Cop" wood framed built school.. I found another photo of another school in Atlanta Georgia.. These appear to be more roundish, I don't think i've ever seen these before This is what a lot of buildings would look like, 30 years into a life without people lol

It's not only just 30 years of abandonment to make a place look like this. Some places will decay very Very VERY quickly, to the point where a building abandoned, say, 10 years ago, will look like it was abandoned much longer.

Thats true, alot of it depends on location and the type of material the building is made out of...

That looks like it would have been a cool place back in the day. Those lights are quite neat, minus the rust.

I'll bet the first abandoned school could be restored. But Andrew is right though- once it goes abandoned say- 10 years ago- it'll decay. My college's Administration building was built way back in 1925…sat abandoned til 1934, and has since been the Admin building. A beautiful brick building though. This photo is older than the hills though… Here's a more recent one…

Everything Decays, it's just how long will it take without man maintaining it. Wood frame buildings tend to decay much faster Than brick, and cender block buildings. Also depends on the environment the building is surrounded by, moister takes a toll on everything, open and broken windows will allow the outside moister in, now mold and plant life will grow inside much sooner. Abandoned buildings out in the dry desert of Arizona would last much longer. In Florida would be no time, once natures growth starts growing in cracks which causes leaking and then downhill much faster when water invades.... The first few pictures of the school in Texas, those pics are taken 30 years after the building became abandoned which is wood framed. Pretty rough shape, but still standing.. If someone wants to dump a lot of money into it, restorable.. Some buildings will look like that in 10 years some may take 100s

I found another photo of another school in Atlanta Georgia.. These appear to be more roundish, I don't think i've ever seen these before l Those look a lot like those more recent ones they still make (I think) that are supported by a few wire cables. My school has them all over the place. I can't find a good pic of them, but they do look very similar. Those ones appear to be much older though, I've never seen a light like that with rounded side shields.
