I say these wallymart fans are nearing the verge of "retro" in terms of 80s style fans. For one, those transparent colored blades are a start. They just need to put in a bare-metal grille (instead of this) and it might look..odd. Okay I've said too much LOL. I Agree. I was saying that the other day, Just chrome guards and White body stands and it's early 1980s once again. (Minus the motor of of course) Who knows what they'll make for next year. They need to bring back those powerful friggin' motors. They probably discontinued the power house motors because of energy consumption. I looked at a friends fan- the maximum wattage it used was 15 watts. A 7 inch desk fan made by Lasko in 2007. In comparison, my Tatung has a 22 W motor, and my TOZAI has a 27 W motor. I think you mentioned something about C-type motors. What are the other types? A and B?

However, in the good old times, Tatung made a series of 9-inch models with this motor. You can imagine is a little hurricane.

You know, "rrr rrrr rrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrr". I know a lot of vintage fans from the 40s to the early/mid 80s made this noise- that a lot of fans today don't.

No. LOL. The sound is like this:

That "R" sound at the beginning when powering up is a dirty bearings and/or dirty stator and rotor. take it apart and clean both piece with alcohol then apply grease at both ends and re assemble it see if that will eliminate the noise.
