I recently purchased a white Tropical Hunter Original Fan. I am thinking of switching out the fan blades for traditional non wicker blades. Can a generic blade be used or do I need a specific blade for this fan?
Additionally, if anyone has a good source then please let me know. I would also like to add a remote control to this fan and would like to find one for the best price. Thanks.

You can buy generic blades at a home center and drill them to fit, they come with no or just one pre-drilled hole so you can make them fit. You can also order different blades from Hunter I suppose, you'd just have to pick a different model fan that has blades you like (that have the same hole spacing) and tell them you need a blade set for that model. I'd suppose the Tropical Original has the same spacing as the Eastern Shore, Vista, Summer Breeze Plus, and Low Profile for examples.
For a remote I'd go with Hunter to keep the brand the same. They offer a few models I believe, you'd have to pick. Otherwise just check out local home centers for cheap alternatives.
