HOW DO I HOOK UP A NEW 3 way SWITCH? An electrician said he could replace my 3 speed pull chain switch. He cut all the switch wires too short, and then couldn't get the new switch connected correctly. it's an SMC 3 Speed with Reverse switch (NO Light) 1.one black wire comes from the 6 pin plug to the bottom lead of capacitor (AC300/260, 1.5/3.5UF J, 465 deg C CJ*P1) 2. a black and a blue wire both come from the capacitor = No connections 3. a red wire comes from the Reverse Switch(Lower Middle contact)= No connection 4. a black and a white wire are not connected ( I think they are for a light) taped together 5. a black wire comes from the bottom middle of the 6 pin connector (No connection) 6 a gray wire comes from the bottom of the 6 pin plug and goes to a crimp connector which has a white wire (to item 4) The original switch has a ? wire coming from L (electrician cut it off at switch body) has black wire coming from #1 has a Green (or blue) wire coming from #2 has a black wire coming from #3 =========================================== I find that I need an AO5 switch which I'm getting from Switchco SwitchCo out of Texas carries a number of pull chain switches, including the A05. www.ceilingfanparts.comYelnats reply to his posting.

I have a SMC fan with a light. It has a 4 wire three position pull chain. I'm not lying, I cut the wires and forgot the order before I wrote them down. Dummy me. There is a blue and a black coming from the compacitor and a red wire coming from the reverse switch. The last wire is also black and it goes to a plug in harness that goes to the fan housing. Any educated ideas on L, 1, 2, 3 .....
